  • Works ok, super cheap for what it is
Size: 4 Computers 1 Monitor
This is technically a basic and dumb electronics switch. It turns on/off connectivity from the 3 USB ports and 1 HDMI input over to one of the 4 HDMI/usb combo ports on the back. It acts basically like connecting and disconnecting the devices from the PC in question. Windows will have a freak out and move your apps around when you plug it in. If you use it for a primary display, it most likely will work pretty well (but make to set the switch to the correct PC before turning the PC on). For extended displays apps will get reshuffled off the switched display to the primary display. This is annoying but acceptable for what the device actually does and the cost. It is itself a USB hub and can handle down-stream USB hubs as well (i.e. from a monitor that takes keyboard & mouse USB and is itself a hub). Casing is pretty cheap plastic and the buttons don't feel all that "quality". But they're plastic buttons in a plastic case on a pretty simple circuit board whose job is simply to switch all the various wires from one connector to another. Wire it up, route the remote near the keyboard, and leave the box hiding somewhere and never touch it. It is powered by the HDMI ports, so no need for an extra power connector. Very nice. It comes with 4 HDMI cables with one end being HDMI & USB. No idea if they would work as regular HDMI cables, but they are actually well built. They're also long enough (1.5M or just under 5-ft). (I think the cables might be higher quality than the switch box itself.) Best use case: If you were manually moving an HDMI and USB cable to swap your monitor/keyboard/mouse from one pc/laptop to another, then this is exactly what you're looking for. (I'm even typing this through the switch right now.) Would probably work well to switch a bunch of consoles or media servers connected to a TV, especially if they support a keyboard input. This is not an automatic switch and doesn't read key-combinations. Its just a basic switch. But it does exactly what it needs to do if all you need to do is pull out a couple of cables between devices. The only question might be how long it would last. It's not dealing with anything more than the 5v from hdmi and USB, there's not that much there to burn it out. Have to wait an see. (Literally just got it today and hooked up a couple of laptops to figure it all out.) Will have to update if it burns up prematurely. ... show more

  • Took a few tries
Size: 4 Computers 1 Monitor
I'm not sure what the change was, but in my first attempts, the mouse would lag and multiple computers were entirely non-functional. Tried it a couple weeks later... worked great. I'm happy with it.

  • Worked fairly well for 1 year 2 months
Size: 4 Computers 1 Monitor
This 4-port switch worked fairly well for 2 years 2 months until it stopped working. There was a little frustration in that it occasionally didn't switch properly. When this happened I kept switching between different inputs and sometimes had to disconnected and reconnected the cables. This always got it working again but it was somewhat of a pain, especially when I was in a hurry to do something. Note: I was always using the remote control and never tried to see if the switches on the device worked better. All in all I think this is a fairly good switch for its price. So much so, I purchased a second one when the first one died. I just wish the switch lasted longer. ... show more

  • The KVM will NOT pass HDMI video through to a 55" 4K Visio TV
Size: 4 Computers 1 Monitor
This KVM switch does not pass HDMI video through to Visio 4K 55" TV at all. The switch advertises that it passes 4K video, but I found that to not be true. I purchased this KVM to connect three PCs to the 55" TV. For one of my three devices the video would occasionally show for a few seconds before going dark, the other two machines would not pass the video through at all. I am a network engineer be trade, so troubleshooting computers and the like is commonplace to me, so I set out to definitively identify the problem. I troubleshot this thoroughly and it always came back to the KVM switch itself not working with the 4K TV. I tried a normal monitor for the output on the KVM switch, and the video signal came up fine on the monitor. As soon as I switched the output to the the TV, there was no signal. I tried using completely different cables to connect the KVM switch to the TV. Again, no signal went through. As soon as took the connection from the TV to the output on the KVM switch and plugged it into the PC directly (bypassing the KVM switch), everything came up fine. I have used it this way for quite some time already. I thought that I had a faulty device, so I had a replacement sent. Unfortunately, the replacement exhibited exactly the same symptoms as the first one. The video just won't pass through this KVM to my 4K TV. The ports and cables all check out fine as long as the KVM switch is not in line. On the positive side, the USB passthrough works just fine. At the end of the day this is a return for me. I tried it on two separate switches and neither would pass video through the switch to my 4K TV as advertised. ... show more
