    • One big problem
I really wanted to like this book. I've been playing flute for 11 years and wanted to get back into it a bit more, so I purchased this to try and learn some songs from one of my favorite artists. The problem: a lot of these songs are not in the correct key. Some of the songs such as Picture to Burn and Speak Now are, but others are just blatantly wrong. I noticed this when I flipped to Exile and played the song alongside sight reading it to get a better feel for the rhythm. The written notes are several pitches above what Taylor is singing, making the book useless as an accurate way to play along with her songs. Another problem I had with this book is that many of the rhythms do not accurately reflect what is actually being sung. The most complex rhythms it contains are dotted quarters, eighth notes, and a few sets of triplets. Between a lot of the songs not having the correct key signature (not really acceptable on a 3 octave instrument) and most of the rhythms being oversimplified to the point of being wrong, I would not recommend buying this if you are an intermediate or advanced player. It makes more sense to listen to the song, find the notes, write them down, and improvise your own rhythm. Overall I could really only recommend this to someone who is at a middle school level of playing since they likely will not notice or care about the flaws I described above.
