  • pricey yes but its amazing and he loves it
Giving 5 Stars because of Chris at customer service for Chicago Music (Shipping had major issues but this company more than made up for it and very hands on which is rare during this day and age) My son is in college and has been wanting this guitar for years. Yes, pricey but its amazing and he loves it! He says the sound and look is awesome and his whole floor at college tells him it sounds amazing when he plays his new guitar ! I told my son rock on and keep up the great grades and wrestling !! I will purchase all music needs from only Chicago music now and will tell anyone buying an instrument buy from Chicago music if you want a real person from a real store (not a web based store) to help you and guide you with your big purchase. It is worth it!!! ... show more

  • SUPERB ACOUSTIC MODE, INFERIOR ELECTRIC MODE
Beautiful and well-made guitar. In acoustic only mode it's the best guitar I have ever played. In amplified mode it sounds terrible. I plugged it into my Fender amp with the settings I use for amplified acoustic guitar and the sound was not clean, plus because the electronics are inside the body rather than just under the strings, the normal squeaks and pick guard strikes are significantly amplified too. As a last effort to save this beautiful guitar for my collection, I plugged it into my recording system using a Direct Interface (DI). This was even worse than playing through the amplifier. As a songwriter and recording artist I use a lot of acoustic instruments when doing country, Americana and bluegrass style songs. The only way I could use this guitar for recordings would be to mic the instrument. So what is the purpose of having an electric option that you can't use? I am reluctantly returning this guitar but looking for an acoustic only Taylor made replacement. ... show more

  • Lovin' it so far
I have no bad and all good things to say about this guitar so far. Tone is excellent; sustain is almost too good to be true. And this is one beautiful instrument!

  • One wonderful instrument!
For the money, a FABULOUS!!!!! guitar! Bought mine from Guitar Center. I got the guitar as advertised NEW. NOPE!!!!!!! I was shipped an obviously USED 214ce. The store manager gave me a 20% discount based on the strictly cosmetic defects. Honestly, it's one lovely guitar, both acoustically and plugged in, although the electronics need more EQ control. Just disappointed by the claimed NEW as advertised. ... show more

  • Beautiful guitar with a crisp
Beautiful guitar with a crisp, deep, singing sound. I am amazed at the harmonics, ease of playing, the tone, and how well it projects sound. Beautiful woodgrain, exquisite finish that is flawless. Electonics are excellent. I have been a hard rock player for years...this is my first higher level acoustic....I can safely say that this guitar will be a life long companion ... show more

  • Good guitar. Not my cup of tea.
After reading so many positive reviews, I gave this guitar a shot as my first Taylor. I purchased it from GC in September. The initial one I got had a pretty significant buzz that created some pretty aweful feedback when plugged in. I exchanged it for another 214ce deluxe with a better result, however, with much to be desired. Unplugged it sounded well enough and played great (after some adjustment). It did not hold up to being mic’d Near as well as my Martin and plugged in, I felt like I had to do a lot of work to keep feedback under control vs sounding too thin for my ears. The real test was playing a live gig with another guitarist and the comments we kept getting were how difficult it was to hear the Taylor (with a significant amount more gain) vs a Martin loaded with LR Baggs. I’m glad this guitar works for so many people, however, I guess just not my cup of tea. (I’m writing this review for amazon as I frequently shop here and also saw the reviewer with the similar issues I had) ... show more
