  • Great Food! Only Thing Cat Will Eat!
Flavor Name: Grain-Free Trout & Smoke-Flavo... Size: 14 Pound (Pack of 1)
Taste of the Wild is the only think my cat will eat that doesn't bug his bowels besides fresh fish/meat and rice cakes. He wouldn't even eat a dried minnow treat I tried once that all the neighborhood strays gobbled up and begged for, so it must taste good. Larger size is great and keeps the cost down. Can be left out all day for nibbling and free feeding without getting stale. Smells good. Nice size pellets. Blends nicely with Taste of the Wild wet food. My boy likes both available on his plate for his picking & choosing. Happy that it's healthy and not full of the junk flavors, colors, corn, and other junk ingredients most cat foods have. Keep it coming! ... show more

  • A great option that saves $$
Flavor Name: Grain-Free Roasted Quail & Roa... Size: 5 Pound (Pack of 1)
My cats love it. It’s cheaper than their previous food, but the quality of ingredients is just as good. They seem to appreciate the size of the kibble.

  • Excellent food
Flavor Name: Grain-Free Roasted Quail & Roa... Size: 5 Pound (Pack of 1)
I've tried many different cat foods over the years. Taste of the wild has been my go-to for quite some time now. Is a favorite the roasted duck and quail is a favourite. Being grain free and gluten free is a strong concern of mine. Seeing that this food is grain free and gluten free is a positive and I will continue to buy it and rely on it for the health of my cats. Thank you taste of the wild. ... show more

  • when Rochelle eats this, her poop hardly smells
Flavor Name: Grain-Free Roasted Venison & S... Size: 5 Pound (Pack of 1)
5/21/17 update: my now ~3 year old female cat Rochelle that i got from a shelter when she was about 6 mos old, has a new favorite food: the Canyon River formulation of Taste of the Wild, both wet and dry. just ordered it in and tried it for the first time yesterday. i gave her a few pieces of the dry kibble and she literally cried for more. i gave her the wet version this morning, and she loves it, too. for the past year, as her second dry food, i was buying Blue Buffalo Sensitive Stomach (BBSS), mixed them together, and she finally just refused to eat the BBSS, but she still likes TOTW Rocky Mountain formula. putting the BBSS and TOTW separately in bowls, she would only eat the TOTW, so i had to pick a different second food. that is why i tried the Canyon River flavor of TOTW. what a hit! long time ago, you can see from the pic below taken almost two years ago, i had gotten her a grain free dry salmon food, Wellness chicken with salmon if i recall correctly, and she wouldn't eat it, one of many foods she wouldn't eat. that is why i had never tried the Canyon River TOTW is because it has salmon in it. but she loves it, absolutely loves it! btw, for TOTW wet foods, i have a little tiny food processor, super easy to use, and i puree it, as she won't eat the chunks. 8/2/15 update: this is now the ONLY commercial brand of food my cat eats. not only does she love it, she has been stable on it as her sole food for almost three months now, so we have reached a stable point. i have given all the other foods in the picture below away, including the great-tasting and good-quality boost treats. our journey with those foods is explained in the original review below. (as an aside, last week i ordered a case of Taste of the Wild canned food. she likes it and her stomach is tolerating it very well. as other reviewers of the canned product have pointed out, she only wants to eat the gravy and leaves the chunks uneaten. one reviewer solved this problem by adding a bit of,water and turning it into a paté right in the can. i followed her suggestion and my cat lapped the whole thing up with no waste, so from now on my cat will be fed TOTW Rocky Mountain Feline Formula in both wet and dry forms). Original review: purchased a 5-pound bag of this on 02/22/15 for $13.99 prime from Amazon LLC. my cat is crazy about it, but it doesn't rise to the nutritional standards of some of the other dry foods, a few of which i have purchased. several are shown in the picture below (originally taken to show the vet what i feed her, etc.) and she turns her nose up at them. so i'm straddling a fence between what she likes best on one side and what may be healthiest for her on the other. i usually compromise by giving her some of this food mixed in with a couple of the other more nutritional brands, this based on a criteria that says more meat is better when it comes to cats. the extra fat in taste of the wild hasn't been a problem for her, as she is overactive and at a year old is a skinny 7 pounds 4 ounces. since the bag is running low, i am faced with the decision of whether or not to reorder (5/2/15 update: reordered taste of the wild last week). we started out with blue buffalo freedom, and in the house right now is wellness core grain-free original dry food, wellness core grain-free beef wet food, and she has tried all the other wellness core grain-free wet food formulas. we also have nature's variety instinct grain-free chicken formula dry food (her second favorite and she likes the raw boost treats shown on the left side of the photo). most recently purchased were honest kitchen's dehydrated turkey formula and honest kitchen's grain-free wet pate food, all since dec 31 2014 when i adopted her from a shelter. hands down, her favorite food has been taste of the wild. i'm giving five stars for taste minus one star for less nutrional value compared to other grain-free foods. but the price is great, and her poop hardly smells when she eats this by itself. right now, it is working best for my cat. . ... show more

This food is the best for my cats! I've tried several other kinds of cat food and they all seem to upset my cats stomachs. No vomiting or tummy troubles with this food. Highly recommend.

  • First Food my Picky Cat with Digestion Issues Loves that Loves Him Back!
Flavor Name: Grain-Free Roasted Venison & S... Size: 5 Pound (Pack of 1)
I've had my cat for 7 years. During that time he has been the pickiest eater. Despite being a large-framed breed, he has always been very slim and light (under his massive coats of super long fur!). He's always just nibbled at his food, eaten no more than a few bites at once, and thrown it back up about a third of the time. Also--and I'm sorry to be indelicate, but I know most cat family will understand--his bowel movements have also always been super smelly! He has also always been pretty fussy about his food, even turning his nose up at most wet food, and taking no more than two or three bites of the wet foods he did approve of. I've taken him to the vet regularly, and after blood work and stool tests and exams they put him on a prescription high-protein food. He threw that up too. I've tried Blue Buffalo, IAMS, and several other brands, from high-end to average and have had no luck. I finally found this Taste of the Wild food at my local Agway, and I'll admit that it was the lovely nature drawings on the bags of the various flavors that first drew my attention. But after reading the ingredients, I found that it seemed on par nutrition-wise with the prescription food I'd been buying (at $50 a bag) that we'd long-since given up on. So I tried it, and lo and behold, Mr. Picky Eater tucked right in! He loved it, and he kept it down. I have never found a pile of this food thrown up anywhere (again, cat owners, I know you understand), and now when he uses the litter box we don't even always know it because the terrible smell is no more. He's put on a little weight and loves to get the bowl filled. I'm wondering if its that these are meats that are not in most cat food. (we've been getting the venison and salmon flavor), but that's only my guess. I have a second cat who was rescued from the streets, and who, after having to really struggle for food when he was homeless, is now very food-motivated. Whatever I try to give my picky eater, this boy loves and eats whatever his brother leaves behind plus his own portion. And yet he is not a fan of the Taste of the Wild food. I've continued giving him his favorite, which is Purina Naturals Indoor Cat. I can tell who is eating what by watching, but even when I don't, Mr. Picky Eater has a system that lets me know when and what he eats. He has a little bin of his favorite sparkle-ball toys, and every time he eats he leaves one in the dish. It's not that he drops them mid-play or anything; when he thinks nobody is watching, I see him go to the bin of sparkly balls, take a minute to choose just the right one for the moment, carry it to the food bowl, drop it in, and then eat. It's like he is paying for his food with sparkle-balls. Maybe that's not the most relevant to this review, but it's too cute not to share. And importantly, I'm finding sparkly balls left as payment more often, and in bigger numbers, and seeing the food actually disappear! (Mr. Will-Eat-Anything still tries to cover his food, thinking someone will come take it, so I also know what he's eating and when. We're working on it so he's never worried about being hungry again, but it takes time. But I also know what he's eating because of his covering behavior, and it's not the Taste of the Wild. He once dragged a black trash bag full of empty soda bottles waiting to be returned over his food dish. He's serious about hiding it!) Bottom Line: Good nutrition, I assume good flavor (I don't personally like the smell--Amazon asks for a star rating for flavor, but I'm not gonna try it!), endorsed by at least one picky eater, and possibly easy on the stomach. Make sure you give lots of fresh water with dry food diets, and enjoy your cats! ... show more
