Most of the very small telescoping oars are still very short when fully extended. In spite of this one's closed-up small size, it opens up to 42" in length! Most importantly, the telescoping mechanism is easy to open; easy to close. I sent an oar from another company back because I got out on the water and couldn't open it. When I got back, it took channel-lock pliers to open it. The build quality on this one is very good. I highly recommend it if you're looking for a telescoping oar that really works and will last.
