I’m in my 60’s, and am very consistent with facial sunscreen ( youngsters take note, wear your sunscreen or you will age your face prematurely or even possibly develop skin cancers! ) but even I can appreciate the healthy glow of a nice tan. I’m just not able to lie in the sun for hours to get it! I grew up where QT ( quick tan) was the only sort of self tanning lotion…….and yes, it did turn your skin orange. Plus it smelled bad……like smearing old suntan lotion all over you. There really is an “art” to self tanning, and because I was tired of looking pale from a long winter I investigated what is available out there. There are quite a few as it turns out. I got it narrowed down to 2, and decided on Beauty by Earth. The reviews were overwhelmingly positive, and I buy what others are encouraged to share. I bought the kit, it comes with a generous tube of the lotion, an exfoliant mit, and two different size applicator mits, one for your body and one for your face. I did go to YouTube to see the best way to apply a self tanner- you’d think it would be obvious but even good tanners require a few rules when it comes getting the best results. I exfoliated in the shower my arms, legs, chest and face. Then after drying off I applied a good body lotion to the areas I had exfoilated. Then I took my time and put the tanner on the mit and applied carefully, being aware of ankles and elbows and behind the knees where a self tanner can concentrate if you aren’t careful. It doesn’t take a lot of the cream, better to start with a small amount than to just saturate the mit. Using too much will result in an uneven look. I found that an amount the size of a quarter worked well for each area. I was careful around my ankles, and I used a fluffy make up brush with a light dab to do in between my fingers and toes. On my face I took the smaller mit and used an even smaller amount, and again used the brush to blend it in with my hairline. I bought the lighter shade, I was not after a deep bronze beach tan😉. The tube of cream should last me a long time; I’ll most likely do a light “touch up” every 10 days or so just to maintain the color I like, it will fade over time but it does NOT come off on your towel, or clothing, or sheets, although I allow about ten minutes before getting dressed. The smell of the cream is very nice, tropical smelling, and not a hint of that suntan lotion scent, although a few times a day I would get a light whiff of a similar smell, but definitely not anything that bothered me about using it. After a few hours you’ll start to see results. The very first time I did my self tan with Beauty by Earth I was sold- the color was exactly as I had hoped it would be, not too deep or dark but absolutely like a nice suntan. Again, I did not go overboard with my application to my skin……you can always go back and “ build” a darker layer if you desire. I was careful applying around the areas where a tanner can build up like my ankles, and I was careful to not smear it on haphazardly but rather aware of having a subtle end result and taking care to apply it mindfully. Hands down a great product…….delivers what it says as long as you apply it right. NO OBVIOUS ORANGE tint, and smells great with only a very faint occasional sunscreen whiff while it works its magic. Great results, I chose the color that was right for my fair/medium skin and the process of applying it was not hard at all, although I do recommend taking your time and to be aware of how you apply it. You’ll find you’ll be rewarded with a nice tone of tan that looks like you were out by the pool for a little while…..without the damage of getting sunburned!!

I woke up the next to my husband telling me I look like Trump. Said I was orange. So to say the least I'm not happy. It went on evenly but the color was not desired. I purchased 2 orders. I regret doing so. I'm not sure how it has positive reviews but I guess orange tint is on. Not for me. Wasted my money. Husband said I was ready for Halloween in May. Ugh. Thank goodness for foundation make up to over my face till this stuff fades away. Update. Seller explained a few things about why this happened. They ended up making things right. Changed my one star to 5

This product has a bit of a tanning product smell, so if you’re more sensitive to scents maybe look for something else. Otherwise, it is nice to have all the products sold in one convenient bundle. The product is very forgiving but be careful around hands, feet, elbows and knees, of course. The mitt is super helpful for product application, though the bottle suggest you would be able to apply with your bare hands. I think it goes on more evenly with the mitt, though. Overall this saved me a trip to the spray tanning salon, and I was happy with the overall color.

Works great! With a total knee replacement, laying in sun doesn't end good for me. When the metel in my knee gets hot, I'm in pain for a couple days. I've tried less exercise self tanning products and more expensive. The product works exactly as advertised, no streaking, no orange or dark knees or ankles. I'm truely pleased and will repurchase when necessary .

I wore this to my Son's Wedding and his Bride, Bridesmaids, and guests could not believe I went from Winter white to the most natural tan overnight. They couldn't quit staring at my legs and how naturally dark I became. This is definitely a Top 10 Highly Recommend! I bought the Medium to Dark. No orange or smell. Thank you! UPDATE 3.5 stars - a rep named Crystal from Beauty by Earth reached out to me and offered me a refund. Crystal informed me that if color development is any sort of orangey, that means the shade is too dark for and one would need to shade down. I also learned some people are sensitive to the DHA or the Camellia Oleifera (Japanese Green Tea) Leaf Extract ingredient and dont know until they try it. I rated them higher than before because of their promptness to ensure all their customers are satisfied. at first this tanner seemed promising with the natural marketing, but the moment I applied, it was downhill. I’m never bothered by the smell of tanners because they are after all chemicals. the initial smell of coconut and vanilla was pleasant but later it turned to a faint but lingering vomit-like smell. the product is advertised that it can be applied with your hands as long as you wash them immediately after, but there is still an orange tint left regardless of how much you scrub. the cream is really thick and is difficult to blend in regardless of how little is applied and circular motions. only minutes on and parts of my body starting itching and turning pink. I read a few reviews sharing similar symptoms, but I didn’t think I would be affected since my skin isn’t sensitive. I immediately showered but the unpleasant smell lingered till the following day. I was hopeful for this product but ultimately would not recommend. I had better success with tanners like St. Tropez

It is not orangy when you put it on, last me about 4 days. Not blotchy unless you do not do it evenly. Smells good, I have sensitive skin and it does not cause rashes, even on my face.
