    • Great water heater, could use some improvements
I bought this water heater to build/setup a temporary (less than 6/month) outdoor shower as we work to build a house on our off-grid farm. Yes, you read that right.. no fancy utilities out here. We had a deep water well drilled and its powered by our 11000 watt generator with a 120gallon pressure tank (which holds about 65g when filled). First impressions on the tankless heater... Pros: *good build quality *has a good weight, not too heavy but not light as a feather *components appear of good quality *straight forward operational use *pretty easy to setup *does not require electricity (aside from two size-D batteries) *shower is powered by water pressure, provided by a garden hose connection *has digital temperature display *small display window which allows you to see the flame when it is running/on Cons: *the digital temp display is only in celcius. Not a major deal, but inconvenient because I am constantly having to do math, which I'm not a major fan of. Hence why I want to farm, hence there isn't much math in farming, hence I have to stop saying hence so much. *the flame is highly sensitive to the wind. On my first day using this puppy it was very windy.. gusts over 20mph.. the flame kept going out. Which means cold water soon follows.. so I had to secure the unit in a confined area (still ventillated) but enough so that the unit itself was out of the wind. Designers need to improve how the unit is vented si that the flame is not so sensitive to simple breezes. *the shower nozzle is a joke. Its plastic made to look like stainless steel.. it will not last longer than a few weeks and likely need replacing. *the included shower nozzle and propane tank hose are very short. Both around 5ft long which is not helpful. Overall my first experience with this heater is positive. For the price I cant complain too much, though the shower nozzle and hose lengths could be improved, overall this is a good deal and I would recommend it. If I could give this more than five stars I would. This product has been a lifesaver. We had a hot water line burst under our foundation of our house. Our home quickly became a construction site and we have been without hot running water in our house for over a week. Once I realized the magnitude of the repair I purchased this little gem. We had a pool cabana in the backyard which was a perfect spot for providing privacy and a short run to the garden hose hookup. It heats up in seconds and delivers endless HOT water. My wife who was skeptical of the initial purchase has been won over and we have grown quite fond of it as we no longer have to conserve hot water for the next family member. We already talking about making it a permanent fixture in the backyard. Side note: I did add and I do recommend installing a charcoal water filter to the inlet (one that is designed for misting systems) because our garden hose line was not connected to our water softener and we have very hard water. So the heater stopped working after 10 months of almost daily use and i called them to ask for troubleshooting. They told me it was still under warranty and after troubleshooting the gas valve (maybe a weakness on these?) with my help, they sent me a new unit. Five stars for excellent customer service and quickness of response to e mails. New unit working fine. The old one works if i wedge the valve open ( which is probably a no-no); i'm thinking that it needs a new ignition unit. ... show more

Bought for 2 purposes, one is for showering while car camping, the other is for bathing our dogs outside. Since using this for our dogs, even when its cold out they stay in place and seem to actually enjoy the bath. Highly recommend!

Works great! Water is warm, easy to adjust temperature and water pressure. Only issue is that the chrome plastic coating is already peeling off of shower head after only a couple uses

I bought this water heater to use in an outdoor shower at a remote cabin. When I first installed it, I couldn't get it to work. When I called the Gasland support number (from their website), they helped me troubleshoot it before concluding my unit had a bad propane solenoid valve. They promptly sent me a new unit which arrived in a few days. The new one worked great! I haven't had a chance to test it with my cabin setup yet, which uses a 12 volt pump, but using a standard garden hose it heats water quickly and provides plenty of hot water for a decent shower. It would be an excellent choice for any off-grid water heating application. ... show more

The photo identifies the drain plug and how I recommend it being used if temps could fall below freezing. So far it works well. gets very hot so we use the lowest setting for summer. I'm sure winter will change the settings. We won't use this when the temps never get above freezing, but the rest of the time, this will keep us clean and enjoying nice how showers in our off grid cabin. DO NOT MOUNT IT INDOORS. It IS NOT WATERPROOF, so keep a cover handy for when not in use. ... show more
