Like many other reviewers, I'm near that 40-ish mark where your hormones start to make weird things happen with your skin. To wit: I never had bad acne until about a year ago - just a few spots here or there at that time of the month. They'd go away in a few days, no harm, no foul. But the "change of life" - holy smokes, the havoc you wreak on my skin! Like other ladies on here, I'm getting deep, painful, red blemishes around my chin that stay for weeks, leave horrible marks (and one scar so far - working on that now with Bio-Oil), just about never come to the surface, and are super embarrassing. I've never worn makeup, but I actually felt the need to start doing some coverup work due to these nasties (with Bare Minerals - another miracle product). So, on to the Tanda. I got it within 2 days of ordering (thanks Amazon Prime) and already had 3 deep, sore blemishes that never broke the skin and had been hanging around for over 2 weeks with no sign of healing. I didn't wait for it to charge - I promptly read the directions, plugged it in, and used it while watching TV. It was warm but not hot, and kind of relaxing and buzzy. Most importantly - IT WORKED. The next morning I woke up and one was totally gone. The other two had flattened and didn't hurt anymore. I hadn't even had my morning coffee yet and I grabbed that Tanda to rezap them. By lunchtime the second one was just about gone. The third one, the most stubborn, took 2 more zaps but it's also history. What is great is that NONE of these suckers ever came to a head - so no broken skin, no bleeding, no pain, no scabs or scars. For me, it's worth every penny to not have the pain, embarrassment, and potential scarring from these horrible "change of life" blemishes. I wish I had discovered this a couple of years ago and will be recommending it to all my friends. It's kind of embarrassing in itself to post this review to the world and talk about my skin trouble - but if the other ladies before me hadn't shared their experience, I wouldn't have discovered this gem. So - ladies - try it, it works! UPDATE - A MONTH LATER (FEB 19) I am still loving this thing. It's stopped the cycle of blemishes where I used to get them, and it's effective on the odd hormonal blemish that pops up. I would give this 10 stars if I could...what a lifesaver. UPDATE - Sept 2013 - Still using the Tanda and it still works like magic. I use it proactively on my chin before "that time" of the month and I rarely break out. If I do have a rare under the skin bump or breakout, the Tanda zaps it in one or two treatments. I am so happy with this product!

***********UPDATED REVIEW*********** DEFECTIVE PRODUCT DIDNT EVEN LAST 6 MONTHS I PURCHASED MY TANDA FROM BESTSELLER21, I HAD SOME PROBLEMS RIGHT AWAY WITH THE HEAD , AND I CONTACTED THE SELLER . THEY OFFERED NO SOLUTION OTHER THEN TO EXCHANGE , SO I DID . NEVER GOT MY REFUND , THE DEFECTIVE ITEM WAS RETURNED TO ME. I WILL BE CONTACTING AMAZON TO TRY AND GET A REFUND THROUGH THEM. THE ITEM STATES IT SHOULD LAST FOR YEARS WITH ONLY NEEDING TO REPLACE THE HEAD ONCE A YEAR. I WOULD CHARGE THE ITEM FOR HOURS AND RECIEVE ONLY RED LIGHT (MEANING IT HAD NO BATTERY LIFE) it cured my cystic acne , i have never been more satisfied with an acne treatment product , totally worth the investment.... the last time i saw results like this i had to fork over 400+ to see a dermatologist to get prescription medication. It is easy to do when your watching t.v. , having coffee etc.. the large treatment area makes getting out of control acne back in check ASAP. i saw results in 24 hrs , and after 2 weeks my skin doesnt have any pimples. Although it is still healing from the old ones , i notice i have smaller pores now , and the pimples i do see coming i kill immediately and they dont even surface. Thank u so much for this product . i have seen several other kinds for sell on amazon that were cheaper i dont know if they are just as effective. i did have a few problems with the head , it seemed not to be that secure and sometimes would shut off for no reason., sometimes it would shut off in the middle of a treatment and to turn it on i would have to push hard on the head against my skin , it overheated as well , i could never get a full 10 treatments , that may be just due to the seller , or maybe the specific one was defective. I am not sure , that is why i only gave it a 4 star.

I've been using this device for ... maybe two years. It's effective on what I would call cystic-type acne. The ones that are red, sore, raised and seem to last forever. I get a couple of these every month and without the tanda, they are really bad for about 10 days, then take another 20 days to fully resolve. Tanda says you'll see improvement with one 3-minute treatment, but this hasn't been my experience. When I first notice the soreness and very small raised area, I treat it 4 or more times daily for 5 or 6 days. It cuts the 'bad' days down from 10 to about maybe 3 or 4; and full resolution within about 10 - 15 days. So, taken altogether, it cuts the nastiness about in half. I have fairly sensitive skin, but have never had any problems associated with using the tanda. Note that the treatment head becomes ineffective long before the lights go out on it. For me, a new head is effective for about two or 2.5 months. So, at about $50 per head, that's around $300 a year. I actually have two of the devices (one was purchased at a time when it was especially hard to get the replacement heads, and I bought a whole new device for about $65 on e-bay because that was cheaper than I could find a replacement head). Anyway, one of the devices overheats much more quickly than the other one. After maybe 15 minutes, compared to maybe 25 minutes. It's not a huge problem but suggests to me there's some variability in the manufacturing.
