I am very happy with my purchase and I have not found anything about this camara backpack that I don't like. It's comfortable, well designed, extremely well built, and customizable with plenty of pockets for laptop, tablet, filters, batteries, etc. The Anvil 27 is able to hold the Sony 200-600 G Series lens even with camera body and battery grip attached with room to spare for other lenses and a second camera body. It's classy and attractive but does not stand out as a camera bag to draw attention to it. Of course if you strap a tripod to it you will give away that it's a camera backpack but it does have sturdy tripod straps attached if you wish to do so. I went with Tamrac because I have owned their products in the past and have been very happy with them.

I almost didn't purchase this based on a few reviews giving the Anvil 27 poor reviews on the belt and shoulder straps being uncomfortable. I have hiked six and five miles with this fully loaded (35 to 40 pounds total) without any problems. Very comfortable and highly adjustable to accommodate anybody frame. I love the ability to customize the interior dividers to accommodate any size lens or other gear. I love the see through pockets on the inside of the top flap. Seems to be very good quality. Zippers seem to be of high quality as well.

Bought this with the intent of retiring my Tamrac Expedition 8x, generally used to carry two pro bodies, a super tele plus a tele zoom to football games/soccer matches. This bag is well constructed and I appreciate the detachable waist belt which makes air travel easier. I also like the fact that is is all black versus the two tone sliver/black of the older bag. This bag is slightly smaller, but slightly deeper than my Expedition 8x, and though I can fit the same gear into the new bag with a little more creativity, I find I end up still using my old bag if I'm taking the 400mm to an event as it is just easier to use. I do like the new bag for all other gear combinations, though the plastic used for the interior compartment covers is much less forgiving than the plastic used for the interior compartments of the older Tamrac bag. The old bag has suffered years of me abusing it with no damage to the plastic. The new bag's plastic has been destroyed after only a few months of use.

It is designed to organize a lot of photography equipment and a laptop. The straps are large and well padded, and enables one to carry a lot of weight very comfortably. I bought it because I wanted all of my equipment in one bag and organized to reduce to time wasted looking for things. I also carry a smaller camera bag in my trunk so that I can pack down when needed.

The clear interior pockets on this bag totally fell apart. I had been losing cards and batteries before I noticed. The rest of the bag has held up so well. It’s frustrating that the plastic breaking up makes the entire bag not functional to my needs.

Tamrac did a lot very good and some not so good on the Anvil 27. I bought this bag back in 2018 and I have to say that the basics of this bag have held up so well. I am a Senior and High School Sports Photographer so this bag is in and out all over campuses and destination locations several times a week. The shoulder straps, zippers, nylon, stitching and internal dividers have withstood constant wear yet have maintained their shape and the zips have never given me any issues other than one of the pulls finally breaking about 6 months ago. There are however two major issues that I see with the model. First being the plastic that makes up the see-through pockets. Within the first year of having this bag the plastic had hardened and turned a yellow color. By year 2 the plastic on two pockets had torn and no longer held items. By year 3 all the plastic in every pocket had pretty much disintegrated leaving me with no place to store items – which insolently was one of the major selling points originally. The 2nd issue is the lack of a more reinforced bottom. If you have a camera in the “bottom” slot with lens attached, you have to be careful setting the bag down or it being bumped by other gear when laying down else you will end up with a broken screen. Luckily, I had a screen protector on my old Nikon DSLR so had already added additional padding and was in the habit of setting down very carefully or laying flat when I transitioned to mirrorless. Again, this backpack will take you through the woods, across the desert over the mountain and back again many times over, but if you are like me and expecting the pockets to last its just not going to happen with this type of plastic (have had other items with such plastic and non have survived).

I've been searching high and low for the perfect travel bag. This bag finally met all of my requirements. I can fit my R5, 24-70 lens, 100-500 lens, 16-35 lens plus four filters, batteries, chargers as well as my G7 X III. In addition to that, I can fit my laptop/iPad and all the chargers, cables, and extra goodies I need on a long trip. No one else could get everything in the bag.
