I got a couple to gift and they were well loved. They are very small and very fun. There are a few different possible outcomes for the characters: you can get a normal one, a special one, a selfish one, and a mean one. There may even be more. They evolve 3 times. They beep very loudly when they need attention (more often when they hatch and less often on the following days). It is easy to understand, but I wouldn't let a kid take it to school (it could disrupt the class). Overall, very cute and fun! :) ... show more

Tamagotchis hold a special place in my heart—I was obsessed! Though, I must admit, my obsession led to a funny incident with my parents getting fed up with the beeping and, well, let's just say my Tamagotchi had an unexpected adventure. I had hoped to pass on the Tamagotchi love to my niece for Christmas, but she's a bit too young for the responsibility. So, i had to send it back to amazon for now, waiting for the perfect moment in a few years when she's ready for the digital pet experience. In the meantime, I can't help but feel that inevitable pull—I'll probably end up getting another one for myself someday. After all, nostalgia is a powerful thing! ... show more

Such a cute little toy. It works great. It feels a tiny bit smaller than I remember them being but otherwise looks exactly the same. The beeping is kinda loud so I keep it on silent most of the time. I have a Tamagotchi Pix as well, but love the original for its simplicity and nostalgia. It's so easy to take with me and check on periodically throughout the day. The screen was pretty dark which kind of ruined it for me more than I thought it would, and sometimes the buttons would not work at first. It is still a cute toy though and if you just like the aesthetic of having a tamagotchi then it is perfect for you.
