  • Well made, accurate, and a delight to use
Style: 4x360° 16line
First, this is a complete kit except for a tripod (of which I have several, so this was not important). Besides the level engine itself, it also includes a well designed and durable case with the basic accessories such as a metal mounting base that also serves as a footed base for a surface, as well as the battery, remote control, adjustment tools, and some other accessories. Everything in the case is well made and precise in their design. It is a durable kit and feels good in its assembly as such. I am not characterizing it as feeling durable as a simple flowery adjective. I mean this in the practical sense. A well made measuring tool like this will work better in the long run and will deliver consistently accurate results when it is made well. A durable rig will be easier to adjust when you are aligning its lines to features on your building area, whereas a more cheaply built rig will bring challenges to its adjustments and endless frustrations in its results. This rig is durable and its design and accessories contribute well to its usefulness and accuracy. I originally purchased this for a shop project, installing ceiling railings for hanging dust collection ducts and air tool hose/cable runs. I needed it to mark off mounting runs for the rails aligned across and to the ceiling joists and in square alignment to the shop, in general. I needed lines in 3 dimensions covering the walls and ceilings for about a 1,500 sq ft area with a 10 foot ceiling. In short order, it worked great. The auto level worked consistently but did not get in the way of what I was doing (you can turn that feature off or lock it to the alignment of your area design). The green laser lines are very bright to a useful level. They are also displayed in such a way to identify the squareness of features on the wall or ceiling. The remote control was particularly handy as I was mostly marking on the ceiling away from the device. I was not wanting it on all the time since I was also marking against joists and moving across the ceiling. The remote is easy to use and provides pretty full control over the level. The base (that I mentioned before) has 3D adjustment knobs that move precisely for making accurate micro adjustments. The base itself is well weighted and is well fitted. I have since started using this for some built ins that I am making in the house, and it continues to perform well. A tool like this needs to do its functions to make the job easier, and not get in the way of the job by being difficult to use or challenging to adjust. This satisfies both doing it functions well and being easy to use with accurate results. It is neither the least expensive or the most expensive, but it is well worth the money spent and more. ... show more

  • Great laser - 3 years later still works great.
Style: 4x360° 16line
I came to give an update on my review, and found I had not written one. Here goes! I purchased this laser level (mine is the 4 lines - two horizontal, two vertical) April 2023. It is now Feb 2026. I don't use it daily, but when I do use it, it's several days at a time for several weeks at a time. Construction and tile jobs mostly. Sometimes to mess with the dogs. I am doing a bathroom remodel, and pulled it out. It's been in its case for 3 months? and came out still fully charged. This is a nearly 3 year old battery, and I was very pleasantly surprised at how well it's doing. I take good care of my tools. It gets wiped down frequently - always before it's put away. Drywall dust seems to be its biggest enemy. Blow off the lenses before trying to wipe them. Cleaning under the protective plastic isn't easy, but doable. It's not great in bright light or outside. Either they didn't have the one with red and green lights or I didn't know about that version. That would definitely be my next one. Cons: The mounting system kind of sucks. There is no magnet on the unit, so you have to use 17 pieces to do some hinky hanging thing. That would be my second biggest complaint as it's pretty infrequent that I need to mount it. Biggest complaint: Turn it on and the bottom horizontal laser comes on. That laser is the one I NEVER use. Why not default to the higher horizontal or one of the vertical? Even BESTER, the last mode I used?! Brilliant. Also, the selection (Horizontal/Vertical) are SUPER sensitive. You cannot touch the thing without accidentally changing modes. It would be nice if you could use the laser and charge at the same time. Can't. Still 5 stars, so there. For the price and for as long and often as I use it, I am VERY happy. This was much cheaper than the name brand ones, and I'd buy this (or the one with red/green) again in a heartbeat. ... show more

  • Excellent laser level
Style: 4x360° 16line
The Takamine GM160 Pro is an excellent laser level. The remote is very handy allowing you to turn it on/off, choose which horizontal or vertical lines to throw as well as adjusting the brightness. The attachments allow for precision fine tuning so you just get it close to where you need it and then fine tune the laser light to exactly where you want it . It throws a very bright green line that is easy to see in the garage with all of my shop lights on and the garage door open on a sunny day. Very glad I chose it. ... show more

  • Decent, indoor use better than outdoor
Style: 3x360° 12line
I've only used on a short term use only. Seems to work just fine. Indoor use is definitely better than outdoor. On an overcast day you can hardly see the line even at the ground next to the device. Holding a white sheet of paper, you can see the line better at 6 feet or more away. So if you want to use outdoors, recommend when it gets darker outside. ... show more

  • Indispensable Laser Level - economically priced
Style: 4x360° 16line
I've been using this laser level now for about a year, and I love it. I've used it for everything from building walls, and installing cabinets, to hanging pictures. Its level accuracy is dead-on, and the lasers are very bright (though probably not bright enough for long distance use outdoors). Battery life is very good. I am able to get a couple of multi-hour day's use before the battery requires a charge. The remote control makes it very convenient. The device seems quite rugged, and the case it comes with offers an appropriate amount of shock protection - just in case. Would definitely buy again. This is a bargain-priced tool. ... show more

  • This is the right one.
Style: 4x360° 16line
I did a good bit of research before I bought this laser level. Not only did it check all the boxes but has features I didn't think I would need. But they have turned out to be quite useful. I'm not a professional, just a serious DIY guy remodeling our downstairs. The laser is bright green and seems to show up better than a red angle laser I bought several years ago. This thing throws enough vertical and horizontal lines to satisfy any need I will have. I thought the remote control was overkill but it has turned out to be the biggest surprise of all... Very convenient and useful. And the apparatus that comes with it to hang it most anywhere really is a plus. My drop-down ceiling will be perfectly level and square thanks to this guy. And it didn't hurt that it was on sale for Prime Days. I thought about buying a cheaper one but after I watched the videos I found on it I decided to take a chance and go up to the Takamine. I had never heard of them before but the quality seems to be top notch. So glad I got it. I have only been using it for a couple of weeks so I can't comment on long-term durability. But as far as function goes you can't beat it. I was also impressed with the case it came in to protect it. I'm not going to create a video because there are already some good ones about this product. And you should watch a couple that show all the features of this level. The only negative thing I can say is that the beams are briefly interrupted by the bars that hold a protective shield above each laser. But they aren't show stoppers and I don't think they could have been avoided. The shields do need to be there. And remember never to look at the laser directly. I highly recommend this product. If it continues to function as it has so far I will be totally pleased. ... show more

  • Works Great
Style: 4x360° 16line
I used it for the first time today. I bought the receiver too to shoot some grade for my driveway. It doesn’t like direct sunlight. Maybe about 50 feet. Once the sun came up a little, it was working great at around 150 feet. Update: I’ve used it several times now and found it’s very temperamental. Sometimes it works up to about 80’ and sometimes it won’t work at 25’. Also, the receiver makes the same sound when you’re too high and too low. You have to be within 1/64th or so to get solid tone. Very frustrating. ... show more
