It takes roughly 5 years to make a bottle of TABASCO Sauce from seed to sauce. Our pepper mash is aged for roughly 3 years. Since 1868, our recipe, process, and ingredients have remained virtually unchanged. Our TABASCO Original Red Sauce is made with only 3 simple ingredients- red pepper, distilled white vinegar, and salt. Our other flavors use quality ingredients so that every sauce that leaves Avery Island is a premium one. There are easier ways to make hot sauce, but that’s not our way.
