As far as what they look like, they have legit-looking channels that run throughout. There really are 120 of them (yep, I counted). The only thing I don't like is how bad they seem to stain with one of my oils - which might not be the fault of the reeds! I guess the trick to getting full use out of them is to turn them upside down in the oil every several days. The problem is, some of them stained so badly after just the first day that it would be unsightly. That might be the fault of the oil I am using or even the container. Still, it's worth taking note of. I think that the note about a "flaw" on the back of the package is due to a language barrier! Some of the reeds were a bit different in color than others. I didn't really mind. The price was good enough that I'm not mad. I put them in oil at around 7 pm and checked the next day & there was a mild scent emanating. The strength of the scent will also depend on the quality of the oil. So, overall, these are not bad. I might try some others since this is my first time but this wasn't a bad deal. ... show more

I discovered taking the diffuser sticks and turning them upside down once or twice a day prevents mold from growing on moisture logged sticks or in bottle. Pull the sticks out flip them and put the dry ends in liquid and let the wet ends stick out to dry off. Thats how you prevent mold. These sticks work well in my DIY diffuser fluids. I use a blend of essential oils in 2 or 3 tablespoons of low odor alcohol with a few table spoons of water. Add water AFTER MIXING OILS IN ALCOHOL.
