We often travel for work, short and long distances, fly or drive and typically stay in between 3-10 days range. I prefer to avoid checking my luggage most of the time, for that reason was just looking for a new reliable carry-on that is durable and provides plenty of space I need for up to 10 days of stay. This was the hit! This carry-on luggage fits well in the overhead bin, backseat, front seat, truck bed, pretty much every spot I tried to tuck it in, it fit with ease and is reasonably lightweight itself, so you are not adding more weight to what you carry. Exterior is hard material that is extremely durable and very well made. The wheels, handles (YES, it got top and side handle!), and zippers are also of good quality and solidly made. Interior is well thought, designed and has plenty of space for everything you’ll need to bring with you to place it in, like clothes, toiletries, extra shoes, chargers, etc. Fully zippered interior on one side and a clothing tie-strap on the other keeps your belongings in place securely. Additional zippered mesh and slip pockets inside are a nice addition to allow extra organized storage of small stuff or accessories. 360-degree wheels makes it super easy to maneuver around. In addition to all that, it expands about 2 inches without a force to close it. Since it expands a few extra inches, it even allows us to add more extra stuff. I highly suggest this carry-on to all travelers who are looking to lighten their load, organize it, protect it well from weather or being thrown here and there, especially in airports from any damages, and keeping it in place securely. Well worth every penny to spend on this!

This luggage functioned and operated very good for the first year. Used in a few times but on a recent trip the handle would not extend. I would not purchase and look for something that lasts a little longer. I guess that Swiss-Gear is not as good as they once were. Buyer beware.

Technically does not meet carry on size, even unexpanded. Photos on 1 ft tiles with soda can for scale. Very well made and light. The wheels swivel in all directions.I put it in the shower with a towel inside for one minute and the towel stayed mostly dry with the exception of some leaking through the zipper. Useful to know if you are traveling with electronics. The handle does up and down easily. It is the stated 6.2 lbs (matters more on airlines where they care what your carry on weighs) It would be 5 stars if it met the requirements so I would not have to be concerned on the nickel and dime airlines, had a backup latch for the zipper AND if it had some sort of TSA lock for the zippers. So by my measurements this bag is about 22 inX 15in X 10 in when NOT expanded which sums to 47 inches. That is rounding and including wheels. Without rounding it is at 46.25 which is technically over the carry on restrictions of 45 inches for most airlines such as United, American and a lot of US carriers. That does include the wheels and you should be fine unless you are on one of those stickler airlines like Spirit or Ryanair. The standard domestic carry-on luggage size is 22” x 14” x 9” so this is a bit over. You can take it on unexpanded, and then expand it and put your coat in it to keep it clean and it should fit in the overhead bin If you plan on using it as the “personal item” read the next paragraph. Personal items dimensions restrictions I found were 18 x 14 x 8 for American, Frontier and Spirit. 17 x 13 x 8 for JetBlue. 18.5 x 13.5 x 8.5 for Southwest. 17x 10 x 9 for United. So technically this does not meet the personal item limit for most airlines, but is close enough you may get away with it. I have taken a bag exactly this size on a Southwest flight as a personal item (not packed tightly)and did not have an issue. However, the plane was not full (which is not common nowadays) so I was able to put my purse in this, then when I got on I removed my purse and put it under my seat, expanded the bag and put my coat in the bag and put it in the overhead compartment. This was only possible as there was extra space. It would not have fit under the seat if packed full. And Southwest has larger limits so consider what airline you are flying.

I happened to come across this Swissgear 20 inch carry on the week before we were going on vacation. My 8 year old son didn’t have a suitcase and I was planning on just using some big duffel bags prior getting to this. Now this doesn’t come with a lock on it, but for our needs that wasn’t an issue since we drive 90% of the time when we go on vacation. Size wise though it’s absolutely perfect for my son! I was able to fit everything we needed on there, minus a pillow and cover! It’s also a good size for an adult carry on. The outside is a hard shell and seams durable and well made. The wheels glide very easily on the ground and have good maneuverability. The handle comes out to a good length, which is nice since I am 5ft 10in and I can comfortably wheel this around. Overall very happy with this!

I do not recommend this one : I bought it one year ago and use it 5 times...the retractable part broke in the middle of my trip. Next time I will buy a Delsey or Samsonite, definitely much more reliable brand.
