We purchased this for our recent trip to Hawaii with our 8 month old son who is around 28" long and 24lbs and this was his first time in a pool/ocean. The item comes in a round travel vinyl zip up holder that is about 10" across and 2-3" thick after you re-pack it the first time. When it is blown up it measures 38" long and about 28" wide in a oval shape like the picture. the seat has a mini-headrest in it and the way your baby sits is in a natural seated with a slight recline posture. The float then provides his body from the mid-chest up to sit out of the water and our son both reclined and pulled himself forward with no issues of him putting his head in the water. In addition, the float is large enough to protect against him tipping over and is very steady. The canopy can either be attached or not very easily by three buttons on both sides and while my boy tried to undue them he was unable so again it is made very well. There is also the option to pull the canopy back a bit and connect it to the back so it sits like a shell above vs. a roof canopy and you can easily make that adjustment while you are in the pool. My wife and I thought this was a great float to use on vacation as our son was protected from the sun, protected from tipping over or dropping his head in the water and you can either pull/push him around and have fun. We also appreciated the seat/mesh set-up that drops his legs and secures them easily under the device so he cannot wiggle out. It is a great item for a 6 month to 2 year old in our opinions and will suggest our friends get them also! **Plan on needing about 10" by 3" deep in your luggage if you travel with it as once you get it out it is a little challenging to get back in the package but the instructions were very easy.

I bought this last summer when my son was about 6 months old. He LOVED it. And I loved that I could be hands free with him in the water. Definitely stay next to them because they can work their faces into the water, but this allows you to swim laps while pushing them ahead with one arm. The canopy is perfect for sun protection. And my baby was small (14#), his cousin who was 5 weeks younger was huge (24#), and both fit well in it and floated with no problems. Very, very good thing for baby swimming. So I just took this out again today for swimming. My son is now 17 months old. He's still small- only like 22 lbs I think. 31". Um he hated it. I think that's because we had him in the pool a few times this year without it and he has the freedom to walk around on the steps of the pool unassisted and even being held by us in the deeper water is fun for him. With the floater I think he felt too restrained and he didnt like his feet touching the mesh to get in. I tried it a few times through the course of the swim today and he was not having it. It still held his weight well, so I think if you have a more cooperative toddler at this size they would fit well in it. Maybe best for kids who haven't been spoiled with independence. :) At any rate, it is great, top-notch quality and I'll keep it for baby #2 and recommend them for others.

We've owned these for our other children when they were young and it's by far the best floaty I've found for an infant. The webbing material will eventually wear out and tear over time, but that doesn't allow it to flip easier because of the design with the X pillars that go from the center ring to the outer ring. I've never found the shade cover to be very helpful as it tends to tilt too much or even if it was working perfectly would only protect if the sun was directly overhead. Better to put on a hat or we just put a large umbrella by the pool and keep her in the shaded area. A word of caution: If your baby is getting close to walking or is well into the crawling stage they may want to lean way forward which can cause the float to tilt. It's unlikely that it would fully flip over, but our 11 month old can get it to tilt enough to get her face underwater. I'm not saying it's a bad product, and quite the contrary, we really like it. It just may give a false sense of security that you could take your eyes off you baby for a second and you really shouldn't. (And yes, they do say all this right on the package) As a side note, the description said we may receive a different color, but we got the one shown. Not that I would have really minded either way. It's always nice thought when what you get it actually what you see :) 4/5 stars because in my opinion it's a bit expense for what you get. I would recommend this to any parents looking to get their infants some pool time.

This thing is awesome. I can take my son, 4 1/2 months, in both the ocean and the pool. The sunshade is an absolute MUST (can be purchased cheaper w/o the shade, but the extra $ is worth it) for my son's red hair and fair complexion. I like that it gives me the ability to be in water above my waist (I can "swim" alongside him), and he isn't trying to squirm away when he gets tired of being held. Not to mention that shade-- can't keep a hat on the kid, so in order to get the kind of shade it provides, I'd have to be holding an enormous umbrella. AND, it pops open and assembles easily within 4 minutes, and you can put it away in about the same time. Yes, even I can do it, and without the directions-- it's pretty much stupid-proof. And no, you do not need a pump to inflate it. As a healthy adult, it's no more difficult than inflating maybe 2 latex balloons. My son is presently 17 lbs, 26 in., 4 1/2 mos., and I think this float will last him until he is ready for "swimmies" or a vest-- great investment. Highly recommend over all the other cheap junk on the market.

These are great floats, they're super durable, the babies don't fall forward or back which was a problem I had with other floats. They were so sturdy I was able to let the babies float around our small pool without worrying at all. I have b/g twins, one pudgy (boy) one skinny and they both fit in nicely. They absolutely LOVED them! For those having trouble blowing them up, you have to squeeze the valve, yes, as you do on all blow up toys/floats, and this one is a little different as the valve is shorter. You have to bite at the base where the ring is attached to the float itself, not just the valve. I'm not sure why the complaints though, as I easily figured this out. I had both of mine blown up in less than 5 minutes. The canopy is great, it has a back snap to secure it in the tilted back position, or you can leave it unsnapped to have it directly overhead. Again, not sure why the complaints about the canopy not being adjustable. I've posted a photo of my little ones enjoying their pool time, showing the canopy in both positions up (left baby) and back (right baby) Be warned, if you have curious little ones, the snaps are an instant attraction! It also is a little difficult to get the babies in and out, but not excessively so. Looking forward to lots of fun in the pool with these!
