The media could not be loaded. Works perfectly! Some reviews said the gasket seals don't hold up, but I haven't had any issues. I've run the still about 10 times now and it works great every time. Just make sure all the connections are tight and you can hear the thumper bubbling. It starts thumping as soon as you turn on the heat, so you know if it's together properly. I bought a small 80gph submersible pump (also found on Amazon) to keep the cool water circulating durring the run, which also works perfectly. This is a great hobbie still. The still, thumper and worm appear to be well made. I have been distilling successfully for about 7 years using a pot still. I am able to use an induction cooker with this still which is a plus. I’ve experienced no burning or scorching of mash. I DO NOT use the pot for fermenting mash. Initial proof with first batch was 165. It maintained a higher proof throughout the distillation than my copper pot still. My pot still max was 140. Takes a bit more effort to set up than the pot still but I find it’s well worth it. ... show more

This is a good starter still to figure out if you want to pursue this hobby further. That said, there are some inefficiencies with the design and construction. The tubing is held together with gas fittings and silicone gaskets, if you over tighten they will split and leak. If you overheat them they will degrade and leak. The thumper and condenser are undersized for the volume of the boiler but will work. The boiler seal will leak, I've been able to fix this with office document clips around the lid in addition to the 4 clamps. The flex pipe will crack eventually from the stress of bending, this can be replaced with commonly found flex pipe from any hardware store. My solution and recommendation would be to bore out the lid of the thumper for 1/2 inch copper pipe flare fittings and solder them to the lid and convert the flex pipe to solid copper pipe. I also recommend expanding the condenser for efficiency purposes as trying to maintain a cool to cold temp on the smaller pot is doable but a challenge. Overall this will do what it is advertised to do, but will leak and require repair or modifications to remain operational. ... show more

It took me a couple days before I unboxed this. Wasn't packed very well. Worm was just flopping around in the worm barrel and was bent up and damaged. The assembly instructions were useless. I got lucky and found a YouTube video for setup, even though it showed the thump keg assembly incorrectly. Both silicone seals on the pot and thump keg leak very bad. I lost a LOT of steam. Had to make a quick paste to try to keep from losing too much vapor. If I would've been doing this on a propane burner (which I had planned), it would've blown up like a bomb! I wanted to try it on my electric stove first. Good thing I did. The pot has a surprisingly thin bottom, so it warped after the first use, and started shaking violently back and forth. They provide no attachments to hook the water line up to anything. All in all, I had to spend about $60-70 at menards to buy longer steam hoses and connection fittings. After i saw how bad the seals leak, I requested a replacement unit. I sure hope the replacement is better than the first one I ordered. $240 is quite a bit of money to spend on this, as it's really only about $100 worth of materials. The only way I would be more upset about the quality of this unit was if I would've blown up because of all the seals that spewed super flammable ethanol vapor straight down on the burner! I sure hope the seals in the replacement are correct, or I will be requesting a complete refund, instead of having to pay even more money to get the correct stuff for it. I will update my review after I receive the replacement. I am truly hoping it's just a defective unit and the new one will work as intended! UPDATE: Recieved new still a few days ago. This one was packed much better than the first one. Got it all set up and ran 2.5 gallons of bottled distilled water through it to clean out any residue left from manufacturing. This second still leaked WAY worse than the first one. More vapor escaped than was distilled! I made a quick paste of rye flour and water to patch up the leaks, but it literally leaked from every single possible place. I was pretty pissed about the whole situation until I opened the kettle after it cooled down to find a TON of rust all over the bottom! There were deep gouges in the inside bottom of the kettle, which rusted quickly after only running 2.5 gallons of bottled distilled water through it.
