  • Great winch! Great winch!
I purchased this winch for Polaris RZR 570 and I couldn't be happier that I did. I've had it installed for about a month and so far I've had no issues with it. As a matter of fact, it actually paid for itself on my first ride out. Due to conflicting work schedules with my friends, I tend to ride solo quite a bit. On my first trip out with the winch I encountered a marshy sand bar that turned out to be a lot nastier than it looked. I used a tree saver strap to hook up to a nearby tree and within a few seconds the Superwinch had me out of the mud and back to riding. I've used it two or three times since and it's worked flawlessly every time I've called on it. It works smoothly, quietly, and quickly. Installation was simple and I did it all myself in a few hours. The most time consuming part was running the wires so that they were hidden for a clean installation. For the money you won't find a better winch for your UTV/ATV! ... show more

  • Excellent winch for the money
Great winch for the price. I did have to purchase a mounting plate for my specific winch. But other than that I'm pretty happy with my purchase. Everything it comes with seems to be of very good quality and it defiantly works great. I was able to pull a buddy's atv out of a 4 foot deep water/mud pit. With the front end locked up. It was pulling mud in front of the tires as well. Pulled it out easily. Great winch for the money and I really only have 2 complaints. First if there was a switch that you could mount somewhere to unlock the free spin that would be great. When your entire atv is almost under water and your stuck it's hard to get to the unlock on the winch without nearly falling in yourself. It would be great if there were a switch on the handlebars or something for unlocking the freespin. I would still want the winch to have it on the side as a backup just in case. Also. One time I unlocked the freespin and it wouldn't pull out in free spin. I had to lock It in and use the switch reverse to get the cable out. This was probably my fault because it was covered in mud. And probably is the same way even with high end winches. Overall I am more than happy with the winch for the money and would highly reccomend. ... show more

  • Exactly as expected....
Just installed this on my 2011 Yamaha Grizzly 550 with the mounting bracket I purchased on Amazon as well. No problems. The install of the winch itself is not tight at all, however you do have to plan out the wire runs and I made a bracket to hold the solenoid switch up by the instrument cluster (under the battery cover) to keep it dry. I also installed the rocker switch by using one of the existing bolts from the hand-cluster on the left side, which avoided using the flimsy brackets that are supposed to be used to clamp it to your handlebars. Overall, nice unit, and it raises and lowers my plow perfectly. The only complaint is that there is no auto-stop of anykind when the cable is fully retracted (not that any winch has this that I know of), so you have to pay attention so you don't over-retract to lift the plow when sitting in the drivers seat. I am sure this could bend something in the mount if it retracted too-tight. Also, to avoid cutting a hole in my ATV's skin, I ran the wire up into my hard storage box on the front rack and put the remote connection in that, at least if I decide to take the winch off, or move it, I don't have a hole in one of the ATV's plastic panels. Great deal from Amazon, best price in town on a nice winch! ... show more

  • Great Amazon service, problems with Superwinch
This application is for a 2004 Artic Cat TRV 500. Bought the Superwinch LT 3000 based on price, reviews, and capability. Amazon shipped exactly as promised. However, winch arrived without the solenoid. Called Amazon, since they couldn't just supply the solenoid, they shipped a new winch, had me pull the solenoid and return the rest of the winch kit. Kudos to Amazon. Supplied instructions from Superwinch are HORRIBLE and the supplied universal mount from Superwinch didn't fit so more delay while I ordered a winch mounting plate from Artic Cat. Had problems finding a place to mount the solenoid (not Superwinch's problem), finally cut a hole in the tool kit area under passenger seat which placed solenoid close to battery as instructed. Superwinch supplied cables barely long enough to reach solenoid, but it worked after rerouting cables a couple of times. Did I mention that the supplied instructions are HORRIBLE. Still haven't found a key switched hot lead for the winch switch, but did splice into a fulltime hot lead to see if winch worked. Ran a few feet of cable out with free spool selected on winch. Hit 'in' on the handlebar switch. CLICK, Hum from solenoid. Nothing from winch. Hit out and the winch started turning. Troubleshooting time. Did I mention the supplied instructions from Superwinch are HORRIBLE included the almost indecipherable wiring diagram? Hooked up supplied remote switch, got same results. So, probably not the switch. Reversed polarity at the solenoid. Now the 'in' worked while the 'out' gave me click hum. So, it's not the winch. Must be the solenoid. Wait the weekend, called Superwinch tech support. Fairly easy to get to the right place, on hold about 7 minutes, tech guy comes on and says 'go switch the black leads on the solenoid. Required some more cable rerouting, complied with directions, and IT WORKS! Did I mention the supplied instructions are HORRIBLE!? A readable wiring diagram would have made this process much easier, but at least I got Tech Support on the phone without much difficulty. Haven't used the winch on the trail, so don't know how it will perform under load, but initial impression is good winch, great price. ... show more

  • SUPERB Plow Lift...6 years of use so far
I purchased this winch, primarily based on the reviews that I read. Well, it was a great purchase that exceeded my expectations. The main reason I purchased this particular plow was for lifting a 60 in plow blade on my 2003 Honda Foreman 450s for winter plowing. Lifting that big honkin' blade by hand over and over again would have definitely left me sore for a few days. The installation was a little time consuming (although I am a neat freak). Mounting the winch to the custom mount, also purchased here on Amazon, was a direct fit. Running the relay and wiring is what the time consuming part was. I ended up mounting the relay in the rear glove compartment, then ran the supplied positive and negative wires back to the battery. For the 12VDC accessory supply, I spliced into the cigarette lighter power, so that way, the winch will only be able to operate when the key is on. I've used this set up through one winter and so far so good. It made it through with zero issues. The steel rope never got tangled or hung up either. The unit also comes with a remote switch where you can plug into an optional socket that also needs to be mounted. I have not gone that far with it, but certainly will in the future. Other than just using this for plowing, the first actual use of the winch, 3 days after I finished the install, was to winch out my girlfriend's friend's car that got stuck in a ditch that runs along my driveway. After hooking up to the front frame of the Saturn Vue, the winch pulled the damn thing out. I couldn't believe it. If that wasn't reassurance enough that this winch was going to be awesome... I don't know what is :) I highly recommend this winch for you ATV. You will not be disappointed! ***UPDATE*** Almost 6 yrs later, still going strong!! I use this winch extensively every winter to hoist and lower a 5 ft steel plow. No signs of wearing out. ... show more

  • One suggestion...
Much like everyone has said about this winch, the circuit breaker is non insulated. It's really kind of an awkward size to try an hide. Would have rathered the placement of it along the B+ lead been more toward the battery side. Not a big deal, just make hiding it a bit of a challenge. I understand they try to make these kits as universal as possible so I get it. My suggestion is to buy some liquid electrical tape and coat that bad boy up. Where I installed mine there wasn't much metal around it, but it gives me the added piece of mind. And if I ever need to get to it, I would probably just replace it with something a little nicer. Overall, looks like a good quality product. I'll update my review the next time I get stuck. UPDATE Hve used this thing about a dozen times. Works very nice. Gotten me unstuck out of some serious mud. With the frame dragging the ground going uphill. Amazing little winch. Even pulled out a Razor once. I was a little nervous using it under water the first time but it did great! Half the time i get stuck im under mud. So nice that it works when submerged. Highly recommend. Wouldn't get anything under 3000lb though. It strains occasionally under high load. ... show more

  • Works like a charm for a 2006 Arctic Cat 650 H1 Works like a charm for a 2006 Arctic Cat 650 H1
This winch is one of the most quiet winches that I've ever heard. The supplied instructions are generic in the sense that it only shows you a diagram of how the parts are hooked together. I mounted this winch on a 2006 Arctic Cat 650 H1. All total it took me roughly 3 1/2hrs to get everything mounted, wires ran, and everything hooked up. I bought a winch mount for my Arctic Cat 650 H1 off of Amazon. The winch mount has the middle portion raised to compensate for the front tow hook welds. The middle portion of the winch mount is raised up roughly about 3/4in. The supplied winch mount for this winch doesn't exactly fit as described in the instructions. I turned the plate backwards on the winch because of the supplied winch plate design. If you put the plate the way the instructions dictate, the cable will rub the supplied winch mount when mounted on a Arctic Cat 650 H1. I ended up having to go to Lowes and buy 4 8x1.25mm bolts to make the SuperWinch bolt up using the Arctic Cat winch mount. The supplied bolts (Arctic Cat winch mount) are about 1in too short. Despite having to go buy new bolts (that fits), the hardest part was just running the wires for the SuperWinch. I have the solenoid for the winch mounted on the inside of the left side panel (right beside left knee). The wires running from the winch itself I ran up through the steering column area and around the airbox. The breaker box (about 2inches long) I was able to fit underneath the seat near the rear brake reservoir. The handle switch is mounted on the right side handle bar below the front brake reservoir. The remote control switch hookup is mounted on the left side of the ATV right below the left handle bar, 1/2in above the "Arctic Cat" sticker logo. The rest of the wire hook ups were fairly simple (just a matter of plugging them in). Once everything was hooked up, it worked like a charm. After the initial test, I performed a strength test by running the winch cable over a huge oak tree limb and winching the 720lb Arctic Cat 20ft up into the tree. Strange sight it was, but the SuperWinch LT series 3000lb winch put my 4wheeler in the tree quite easily. ... show more

  • Solid winch at a great price!
I researched winches before purchasing for my atv, and this one was included in a "best winches for atv" search. Includes 2 different controllers...one for the handlebar, and another to use while standing beside atv. Instructions a pretty easy to follow, though I needed a magnifying glass to read them, as the print was very small. Wiring included appears super rugged, and the pre-cut lengths and terminations made it easy to install. I did have some excess near the solenoid that I needed to ziptie up, but I'm sure that is to allow some flexibility in the solenoids placement. Certainly not an issue that would warrant less stars. It comes with a generic winch mount, but I used an ATV specific mount (KFI), and it bolted up perfectly. Only used it a couple times so far, but I love it! You would be hard pressed to find a better winch in this price range. ... show more
