  • I'm loving it.
I have a 2017 Wrangler Rubicon Unlimited with the 3.6 and auto trans with 3.73 gears. So trying to keep from needing a ECM swap I went with the Pulsar. To give an even better idea of my rig and it's weight it has front and rear bumpers w/tire carrier, winch, rock rails, steel skid plates for the trans, transfer, evap, and gas tank, front and rear diff skids as well, and 35 inch tires. Along with this tuner I have a cold air intake and a muffler delete. Overall the install is not difficult but as is my life I had to make things more difficult. The ECM plugs seem to have got a little brittle and one decided the locking lever should break off. 😖 The locking lever locks the plug into place as you press it down. The locking bars are still inside and intact. So with that I was still able to press them in manually as I pressed the plug into place. Then to lock it home I used a thin Allen wrench to pull the locking bars up into place. I then secured the bars in place with two zip ties around the circumference of the plug. It's locked and I think we'll be fine. I sure was angry when it happened though. I have since spoken to several other Jeep folks and most all of them that have disconnected those plugs have broke at least one like I did. It seems to be a fairly common thing. As for the tuner you can certainly feel it when you change it. What I love is you can change the tune on the fly. You simply use the cruise control buttons. You press and hold "cancel" to see what tune is loaded by using the temp gauge. First mark is Stock, then Economy, Tow, and Performance . To change it you press "+" or "-" and the temperature gauge changes to confirm the switch. I went for a short drive and if you're driving at a constant speed and pedal position when you change the tune you can feel it. Tow and Performance also is very obvious with a much more sensitive pedal. Economy feels sluggish and it certainly isn't in a hurry to do anything, which is in my opinion expected. I actually don't mind driving in Eco mode, especially in city traffic. Not to worry though if you want more responsiveness you just hit your cruise + button...... EASY. I'll have to get some road time to see if it helps my MPG but initial impressions are good. I love being able to change it on the fly. I've had a few tuners for trucks but none have ever had that ability. You always had to stop and go through the key positions to change your tune. Then only thing I'm really missing with the Polsar is the ability to change other variables on the Jeep, like tpms, axle, tire size, etc. But I have a obd plugin that pairs to an app that allows all that so I didn't care. With that app you buy a license for your vehicle and connect through Bluetooth to the obd reader(bought on Amazon). In the app you can change all kinds of things as well as get codes. It's also got a Trail View that gives engine info, gear, 4 wheel system engaged, and some cool things like a button for high idle for winching situations. You can also turn your fan speed up. The biggest feature though is you can engage your lockers in 4H, which from factory is not possible. You can also even engage only the front, which again isn't possible from factory. I know some tuners do this but they all required the ECM swap or unlock. I just didn't want to do that and only needed the tune capabilities. Fingers crossed I get some good mpg. With some time to get better information I'll update this. UPDATE: 4-16-23 I have now driven the Jeep a bit. It has helped and if I leave it on Eco I am back to getting 16-17mpg which is up from the 14-15mpg I was getting. I even got up to 18.2 on a trip that kept me on flat ground. What I am finding is my Jeep when driven on cruise to get a test by taking my foot out of the equation is doing a good amount of gear hunting. It has done this since I got it and the tuner has not changed that, not that it should. On flat land it is fine but at almost every overpass or incline it drops to third and stays there much longer than I like and burning fuel. So with my next wave of upgrades I just ordered 4.56 gears and 37s. I'll report back after they are installed and I get some miles driven. ... show more
