  • Great Mario Game!
The game is great! Came with a guide that was helpful. We bought the game as a gift for our 7yr old and he's played it multiple times through. The game itself takes Mario to different worlds where he searches for Princess Peach & Bowser. There's challenging boss fights at the end of each world with the big Bowser fight at the end, as well as some other fun surprises. 2-player mode on the game is a bit odd, but still enjoyable. One player is Mario & the other is Cappy (his hat that can take control of inanimate objects and creatures alike). In 2-player mode, Cappy can assist Mario by traveling farther ahead to collect hard-to-reach coins, take control of enemies/objects, and give Mario a "double-jump" boost. The odd bit is both players share the same screen and Cappy is able to travel off-screen so it can be easy to lose him. Also his movements seem to occasionally effect Mario's and there've been multiple times where Mario's walked off a cliff in the direction Cappy's flying (this could also be a sign that our controller's need to be replaced, so may not be a game issue at all). Overall we think it's a great, kid-friendly Mario game that our son (and we) love to play often! ... show more

  • Wow...how much fun can one have?
If you ever liked a Mario game, or even heard of his adventures, give this a shot! It's super good, and arguably the best 3D Mario game. (Feels like a sequel to Super Mario 64, on many levels!) + Creative and clever level design + Excellent gameplay and tight platforming + New Power-ups using Cappy are plain awesome that inject lots of variety + There's so much to do once you beat the main questline + No microtransactions, lootboxes, nor DLCs. This is classic Nintendo packing as much content and love for Mario as they can! :) - There are few (albeit good) repetitive boss fights It is possibly the most accessible a Mario game has been. It caters to the casual gamer, and may provide challenges even to the hardcore Mario veterans, the more collectibles they seek. Oh, and I got the cartridge in my box, along with the starter guide, Amazon was the seller. ... show more

Without a doubt the best game the switch has made!

  • This game is an absolute gem.
I'm fairly new to the gaming world. My last video game system was my Nintendo64 that I got when I was in junior high school so I don't have a lot of experience to draw from. But this is a fantastic game. The story line is mostly what you would expect from this franchise but the worlds that you go through are so imaginative and beautiful and at times challenging. There are endless hours of play even after you complete the main story line in the form of quests. Anyone who owns a Nintendo Switch should own this game. ... show more

  • Great game, arrived with no issues
A few reviewers have mentioned that their purchase came with only the guide but no game. I had no problems with this - the game and guide both arrived in great condition. My purchase was shipped and sold by Amazon, in case that's helpful for reference. The game is fun and a nice throwback to Super Mario on the N64. It's much easier with a second player in co-op mode, which is how I mostly play. Great game for solo or co-op play. ... show more

  • My Newphew Loves It
Most of the Nintendo games and products are for my nephew, and as expected, he loves this game. I don't play this game except once in a while when he wants me to play with him, but it is a fun game and the graphics are nice. The Switch and Switch games I've seen and played are really good, especially if you're more of a Nintendo person. My nephew -- he's 5-- loves this game and is super happy with it. ... show more

  • Fun Family Game
My husband and kids love this game. We love Mario and the Nintendo systems in general. This game offers hours of play with all sorts of homage to previous Mario games. New in this game is the ability to separate Mario's hat from his head for two-person play. Loads of fun.

  • A great, entertaining game with a few mechanical annoyances
This game is very fun and the gameplay is very solid. The story is great as it can be for a Mario game. It has a few issues: Mario often makes you angry with how stupid his sliding and slipping off things and the ridiculous flipping mechanics of poll climbing. My main issue is that the game is much better when playing with a joycon in each hand, many things only really work with that setup. It can be annoying when you’re trying to SWITCH to handheld mode. Sometimes you literally have no choice but to shake your whole switch to get the effect to work (like the cheep cheep spin attack). Aside from some really annoying mechanics and a handful of moons that are just unreasonable to acquire (I will NEVER do jump rope or volley ball 100 times and I’m okay with that) this game is extremely fun. ... show more
