I usually prefer a very minimal case, just a rubber edge bumper sort of thing. But the newer android phones keep getting larger and larger and I felt I needed more protection to keep it in my pants pocket as I do. I've never used the holster that comes with this. Just never rocked a holster, but it seems sturdy enough. The case is terrific. Fits snug, the touchscreen has never failed with the screen protector in place. One caveat, make sure you have all the SSN, EIN etc information from your phone before installing it. The finger print reader spot utilizes a soft adhesive to adhere it more closely to the phone. You don't want to have to put this on and off a lot. After a year of hard use and carrying in the front pocket of my jeans it still looks great, works perfectly and keeps my phone safe. No issues with wireless charging, bluetooth or NFC connections. No scratches on the tough screen protector. I don't plug it in often but have no trouble getting a plug in when I need to. I bought this case knowing exactly what I was getting. I knew I was buying an attractive looking case with NO intention of using the "built-in screen protector". The entire concept of cases with integral screen protectors is ridiculous. The screen protector on these is basically a thick piece of cellophane that might be useful for preventing micro scratches from every day use, but that's about it. There's no surprise that they present issues, not the least of which is bowing, which causes touch sensitivity issues. There is no substitute for a glass screen protector that directly adheres to the screen. Allow me to repeat, THERE IS NO SUBSTITUTE FOR AN ADHESIVE GLASS SCREEN PROTECTOR. Glass screen protectors sacrifice themselves in a drop and will take the damage while sparing the screen, while also protecting against scratches. This is why they typically come in packs of three or more. I have personally experienced this with various Samsung Galaxy S phones. I've dropped my phone and had a shattered screen protector, but with a pristine screen underneath. There is no way the built-in cellophane on the cases can offer the same level of protection, not even close. There are a lot of three piece hybrid cases available, but the vast majority for this phone have the integral screen protector and come in a limited selection of colors. I was able to cut the cellophane near the edge with a razor blade then very carefully peel it away from the frame. I then assembled it and it functions perfectly as a normal three piece hybrid case, without the plastic "screen protector", with my relatively thick glass screen protector. The case feels protective but not overly bulky in the hand, largely due to the contoured shape of the rubber at the edges. The grip is solid and confident. I don't feel like I could easily drop the phone. The button extensions feel crisp and responsive, not at all mushy or sloppy. I also love the sage green color but the color is painted on and will eventually wear. I like this case so much, though, that I might buy a spare. Just buy it.....and peel off the ridiculous glorified cellophane. ... show more

(Skip to bottom for Pros/Cons) I'll start simple- you want to protect your phone from both scratches and drops, but don't want to spend $50 on a case then $20 on a separate protector (I'm not naming names, but we both know you know who I'm talking about). You're not some lunatic that's going to throw it off a building or something, so "HARD METAL MILITARY RATE-" yeah no, that's a no. Don't put your advertising in your merchandise title, guys- anyway, so you look for something practical and browse a bit. You find a case you've never seen before, the "Unicorn Beetle" and due to the sheer intrigue you look into it. Sure enough, it's a real series with an actual background in the industry (though new, but you understand you gotta start somewhere to get big). Rated for a 20' drop- a sensible height as a lot of men and women- self included- have suffered a phone loss at the hand of the ladder menace. The specs generally sound grounded in reality so you pop it in your cart and buy it. Well, you put it in your pocket with your knife, car key etc. Totally forgetting you're using a brand new $500 phone and not your old phone from ~2009. No scratches, no problems. Keep using it, don't make that mistake twice (and hopefully won't). Drop it a couple times, because the wireless charger is on top of the bed and you're too busy with work to set up a proper spot for it and you're groggy when you wake up. Still no problems. In short, if you're an average person who's going to expose this case/your phone within to average damage, and you're not looking to overspend, this is a great case for you at the ~$20 price point. If you dunk/soak it in isopropyl or other cleaners the paint starts to thin a bit, but that's a gripe that's completely irrelevant to what i look for in a case (as well as quite specific to situations involving said cleaners) and doesn't affect my rating. I'm giving it four stars to denote that it's useful to the large majority of the consumer base, while keeping in mind the fringe market minorities for which it won't do (i.e. Waterproof Cases). Pros: -Completely suited for everyday wear and tear -Withstands most out of the ordinary wear i would say is reasonable to prepare for -Will wirelessly charge with a good charger base, i use Samsung's. -Responsive "buttons," actually makes accessing volume/func buttons easier when put on correctly. -Doesnt seem to interfere with touchscreen input- even when as dusty as I've let this get. -Plastic(? I think) screen protector so the protector itself won't crack, scratch or shatter. -beveled by what I'm guessing is 1/5". -Fits the screen very snugly, but is "away" enough to avoid blocking anything. Cons: -Kind of annoying latch strength on the kickstand. But i rarely use it so don't care. -Dust loves the underside of the screen protector as it isn't airtight (most aren't nowadays, get used to that). If you live in a dusty environment, clean the screen every few days for best results. May have to rub off adhesive on fingerprint panel, but i don't use fingerprint so that didn't bother me. Don't know if it affects use. -No protector over the cameras. Not... Sure why? It's beveled enough to protect them from damage but it still makes me antsy with my finger there idk. -if, like me, you keep multiple SIMs, you will have to take off case to replace SIMs. -Removal is somewhat lengthy. Disclaimer: I don't use a lot of stuff like fingerprint so i can't speak to this case's compatibility with such. I'm very old-school, I'm upgrading from a 2009 phone, man. We always use Otterbox but took a chance on trying out this similar looking case with great reviews. Great quality/design that we are accustomed to with other brand but much cheaper price point. Will definitely be buying this style from this brand in the future. It's durable.

I purchased this case two years ago, and despite frequent drops, my cellphone hasn't gotten a single scratch because this case did such a good job protecting it. Over time, it started showing signs of wear and tear, and the kickstand eventually broke after one of the falls.
