  • EXTREMELY Happy Customer

I purchased this bike to help me with my blood sugar control as I am pre-diabetic and doing my best to stay off any medication. Because of this I find it necessary to be able to exercise everyday, no matter what kind of weather. Thankfully, I live in Florida which makes it very easy to vary my exercise regimen. However, there are those occasional rainy days and hot summers make it difficult. Let me begin by saying my fiance is a very experienced road rider and mountain biker. He also taught indoor spin classes for several years, so he has been on a lot of stationary bikes. Lucky for me, he is the one who assembled bike! LOL He was able to put it together in about 20 minutes. It would definitely have taken me a LOT longer, but I probably could have accomplished it by following the directions. Once assembled, it took a few minor tweaks to the pedals but it was relatively easy and straightforward. I have had the bike for several months now, and I have to say we are BOTH extremely pleased with the product! I rely a great deal on my fiance's input because he has ridden so many different bikes. He is very impressed with the quality and strength of the bike, considering its price! I am 5'6,150 lbs, and he is 6'3", 180 lbs, and we both are comfortable on it. The handlebar height is adjustable, and the seat is adjustable in both height and distance to the handlebars. The bike is VERY quiet, with only a slight creak when I cycle standing up, which is really nice to be able to give my bum a break! Fiance says he will make an adjustment to tighten things up a bit to eliminate that issue. The saddle is a pro riding saddle, and therefore will require cycling shorts and a period of breaking in, but after about a month of riding 3-4 times a week, I am able to ride for an hour pretty comfortably. As I said, the bike is VERY sturdy and well-built, and my fiance says it measures up quite well against many of the bikes he has used as a spin class instructor, just without the bells and whistles. It does have a pretty nice on board computer which tracks multiple types of stats. The heart rate monitor is spot on when compared to my Polar, and the stats will either scroll through or remain on one stat (like time elapsed), with a 2 second hold of the button. The handlebars are very comfortable, and there are several places to hold on or to use for your phone or tablet. It doesn't have a bottle holder, but there is a holder for 2 dumbbells, which I don't really use. One of the only slight drawbacks for this bike is the way to increase or decrease resistance. Like some of the older spin bikes, it has a knob that you turn, and is therefore quite unscientific. However, for my purposes it is sufficient as I simply turn it 1 to 1 1/2 times to increase or decrease. The magnetic resistance is very powerful, and my fiance likes that the resistance is smooth and doesn't cause any friction on any other parts. To us, it's definitely worth spending the extra money on the magnetic resistance. Overall, this is a FANTASTIC bike for the money, and my VERY perfectionist (when it comes to riding) fiance is extremely impressed! I wouldn't think of spending thousands on a Peloton just to get a few more tricks and the "luxury" of paying for a gym membership on top of that! Just put on YouTube and find any one of the numerous videos with cycling instructors or a loverly ride through the Italian alps (we have a 4K projector, so our screen is a whopping 10 feet across, and you feel like you are THERE!!). I feel that if you choose to buy this bike, you won't be disappointed. We haven't had any problems that require a call to customer support, so I can't speak to that issue. But we are extremely satisfied customers, and would recommend this bike to anyone looking to get or stay healthy when working out is so difficult during Covid. And in conclusion, I would like to say I have not been compensated in ANY way for this review. I haven't received any discounts or free products for writing it. I just hope to help others trying to make a sound decision on spending a significant amount of money on a product that would be difficult to return!! HAPPY CYCLING!! ... show more

  • Great spinning bike!!
Style: Synergy Pro
This bike came packaged very well. The handlebars, seat, peddles and legs need to be installed. Anyone with average tool skills can knock out the assembly easily. This bike is nearly silent when in operation. It is extremely smooth too with its 40lb wheel and magnetic friction. Please remember that spinning bikes don't coast, so if you stop peddling, the peddles will lift you right off the seat!! (be careful). This is a great bike, especially for the price and there are tons of free videos on YT that you can use to train. Don't pay the price for the really expensive bike brand with its own app... • Great, except for monitor
Style: Synergy Pro
This bike is great. Everything is as advertised except for the monitor. I chose this bike over other Sunny versions bc of the monitor. Well, the cadence and distance works perfectly but the calories and heart rate monitor are way off. The calories reading is super overinflated and heart rate monitor wildly inaccurate at best. I have wahoo sensors from my road bike to compare to so i know this critique is accurate. If you're deciding between this version and the sb-1805, please opt for the one without the monitor as it's cheaper, has a heavier fly wheel and and your not missing much when it comes to the monitor. ... show more

  • Great bike made with some poor parts and horrible customer service
Style: Synergy Pro
I bought this on November 20, 2020 and received it within a few days. Got it in the house and assembled within an hour or so. We were really impressed by it to start off. It was really quiet and smooth and the magnetic resistance is very natural feeling. About a month and a half or two months in it started making a clunking sound when we pumped the left crank. it was a heavy thunk sound that you could feel through the pedals so I knew it wasn't the belt scraping on the plastic shroud. I took the covers off and removed the belt so I could test each component in the drive train individually. I expected that the bottom bracket would feel loose and may just need to be tightened after the break-in period but it felt very solid. I tried to wiggle the crank arms, flywheel and the tension pulley but nothing felt at all loose. On February 20, 2021 I submitted a support form via the Sunny Bike website and got an automated response saying that they were very busy and to expect up to a two-week wait for a response. It seemed like the kind of issue they probably would have heard about before and would have a recommended fix for. The noise kept getting worse so I stripped it down even further. The only likely part I hadn't gotten to was the bottom bracket itself so I ordered a crank puller so I could get in deeper. I got the crank puller and once I got the crank arm off I realized I also needed a C-ring tool to pull the crank axle so off to the hardware store I went for one of those. When I finally reached the bottom bracket I was surprised to find sealed bearings rather than an old-style adjustable bottom bracket, which would tend to loosen up. The bearings didn't seem to have any noticeable play but did feel a little bit gritty and it was the only logical source so I ordered a set on Amazon (2 for $5.95 compared to $32 each at the local auto parts store). The bearings arrived today and I popped them in and voila, no more noise. It's been nine days and still no word from Sunny "customer service". The bike's back in working order now but I'm really surprised that the sealed bearings would have worn out in such a short time. The bike gets ridden about 5 hours per week and we've had it for 13 weeks. Bearings like these should last for years if not decades. If it weren't for the bad bearings and non-existent customer service I'd give this bike five stars. But I bought a $700 bike thinking it would be high quality and have spent way too much time diagnosing, buying specialty tools and repairing a brand new bike. ... show more
