First of all, research is mixed on if CoQ10 prevents the muscle pain that comes from taking statins. I read the Cochrane review of the results and they conclude that the evidence is weak. I also read a meta analysis of the impact from Mayo which concluded no significant effect but a trend toward a decrease. They suggest more trials. That said, the side effects are pretty mild for most people (although watch it if you have low blood pressure) and I have a couple family members who say it helps with the muscle pain. These are a good choice if you want to take CoQ10 as they are less expensive, are small and easy to swallow. ... show more

Sundown Naturals Co Q10, 100 mg, 100 count, comes in a easily-accessed bottle—lift the top of the lid to dispense the supplement without having to unscrew the lid. Each capsule is filled with the thick orange paste that is ubiquitous with all, or most, Co Q10 supplements. The price, at just under $33 (at time of this review) is in line with the cost of most other brands of Co Q10. It doesn’t cause stomach upset or anything related to that (in me) but of the brands I’ve tried, only one I could not take. Co Q10 is probably best known for helping with your heart or if you take statins to lower blood pressure. But it has other possible health benefits too, such as there are studies it may help with migraine headache. It is naturally found in small amounts in seafood and meat. It’s required for the proper function of many organs in our bodies. So, should you purchase Sundown Naturals versus any of the many other supplements offered? If you trust the brand, then yes. If you have another brand you trust, go for that. Look at the back of the bottle and see what other ingredients are added. See what the strength is. Do you have to take one or two? This Sundown Naturals requires you to take 1 capsule daily. It’s other ingredients are: rice brain oil, gelatin, vegetable glycerin, and less than 2% silica and soy lecithin. The human body produces Co Q10, (Coenzyme Q10), which is needed to stay healthy. But as we age, the production declines, and active individuals need more of this coenzyme, which acts as an antioxidant, and can protect cells from damage help your metabolism. My physician explained that it's not a bad idea to take 200 mg of CoQ10 daily, which I generally do. So when Amazon Vine offered this product, I grabbed it. Sundown Naturals is a fine company with a good reputation, and its supplements have no wheat, no glutens, no milk, no lactose, no soy, no sugar, no artificial sweeteners, no preservatives, no starch and no fish. Most people would probably have no allergic reactions. I prefer to take 200 mg daily, and these oftgels are only 100 mg each, but the jar contains 100 doses, which is more than a 2-month supply, even for my needs.
