One of those once in a lifetime perfect purchases. We purchased 60 of these for a whole house renovation. They made me feel good everyday when installing, and when I look at the overall effect (before and after) I could not be happier. They make me feel as if I hit the mother lode for free. They are inexpensive, energy efficient, look great, and install easily. Perfect! I had installed 24 of these in an apartment rental renovation, and loved them so much that I put them in my house. Bonus: they are so forgiving in terms of space utilization, one does not need to worry much about attic rafter spacing...even if you calculate incorrectly (as I did on a few because of gable jacks disrupting the pattern) and drill your hole on a rafter, you can simply rotate the disc so the "spring clips" miss the rafter on a side, or even overlap the rafter putting the spring clips one on each side of the rafter. Try doing that with a can light or any other design for that matter. Wowzer! Tip: Invest in a 4 inch hole saw, attach it to you drill, and cut you installation time dramatically. The hole will be perfectly covered by the trim, and there will be a good chance you won't even need to paint any part of your ceiling. They would be great for new construction or for rehab. Second bonus: None were dead on arrival. Zero defects. I installed with Lutron LED dimmer switches for perfect ambiance...from super dim to stunning brightness. My wife really likes the warmer color range that these 3,000K units produce as opposed to the colder 5,000K or so range you usually find in LED's. Happy wife, happy life.

Durability / Reliability The light fixture itself seems pretty solid and durable. The spring clips are more of a concern for me. Spring kind of easily falls off the retainer holding it to the light but once its in place is fine. Also the spring tension almost seems too strong because when I had to remove a fixture to reposition it the spring almost broke out the drywall. Functionality / Versatility I've installed numerous ceiling lights through the years and by far these are the the easiest - Just 'plug n play'! No can needed, and easily strung together in series. As it turns out they are brighter than I expected for my kitchen so I've added a dimmer switch for versatility. Summary Where have these fixtures been all my life!? I've installed numerous ceiling lights through the years. I only planned to use these in the kitchen, but after seeing results I'm replacing utility room, closets, hallway, shop, etc... High quality, bright light, low energy consumption and cost efficient. I'll be purchasing more.

These lights look great, are easy to install, and spread light evenly. I did run into 3 issues with these lights, which is why I’m deducting 1 star: 1. I puchased 3000k light, but the color is whiter than the average 3000k bulb. These are more like 3200-3300k and do not match other 3000k lights. Color temperature isn’t very well standarized with LED lighting, so this isn’t entirely Sunco’s fault. 2. One of the junction box drivers did not work. It took about a week to receive a replacement. I’m glad that Sunco honored their warranty, but it’s still an inconvenience. 3. These lights are not compatible with Leviton LED dimmers, which are my go-to dimmers. These lights make the dimmer hum, and will strobe lights when turned on at its lowest setting. I haven’t had this issue with any other LED lights. I had to use a Lutron dimmer, which is 20% more expensive, has a poor quality construction, has pigtails which take up more space in the box, and doesn’t fade on/off like the Levitons do. This is by far my biggest issue with these lights.

I used 3" units from a name brand manufacturer last year at $26/piece. I figured I would try these in the basement remodel and I am glad I bought these units. They are made well, fit beautifully, and are very bright. I will add a dimmer later, but during construction, they are awesome!: UPDATE: I had one stop working, another went to 50% brightness, and another started strobing. I called Customer service and had the most positive experience ever. No hassle, treated with respect, and were prompt in rectifying my faulty devices (it happens). They were very polite, asked for my order#, and said they would send out 4 replacements vs. 3! I am beyond happy with the customer service experience. These guys stand behind their products! (7 year warranty) A++++ for CS

I like these lights from Sunco. They are an American brand and a good value too. They are almost half as much as other name brand versions. I really like the 3000K versions for residential use. The warm (but not too warm like 2700K) light is welcoming and relaxing, yet provides good task lighting around the home. What you don't get with them that comes with other more expensive brands: - Wago wire connectors or similar quick wire splicing connectors. What you do get is 3 orange wire nuts. - Bushings to go in the knock out holes. You will need to purchase your own. - Selectable color temperatures. I like the dedicated single color ones better as their light looks better to me. You do have to invest a little more time up front to install these but they are good quality. Things I like: - The light is nice. Good color, output and spread. - The spring clips that hold the LED in place are strong and pull it tight to the ceiling. - Fits into a 4" hole. - The J-Box fits into a 4" hole sideways with ease. I don't know why another reviewer said it didn't fit. Not true. Overall I like these and will probably purchase them again for the next job. I would recommend them to others. 5 stars. If they were more expensive I would probably only give them 4 stars. As is I consider them a good value.
