{Update} - Been using this daily since we bought it (about a month now). My wife has come to love it more than myself even though she was so against getting it. We've had no issues. Since I have a moisture proof mattress pad a and bed sheet over it, we've not had an occasion to clean it. We find that we don't need more than a 2 or 3 setting on the 1-10 dial. But then, we have a down comforter bedspread. So when we get into bed, the comforter really captures the heat well. I really like the turning it on when I get ready for bed. I have a habit of brushing my teeth after dinner so the bed is toasty by the time I get into bed. It's hard to describe how good the warm bed feels. Admittedly, I go to sleep pretty fast since I got this. Had this for another bed. I got this because I didn't want an electric blanket. I thought a blanket would be too hot and uncomfortable. I just wanted that reminded me of a warm floor or like the asian experience. In Korea for example, you sleep on electrically heated floors w/ no heated blankets. My wife absolutely didn't want it. So I was able to sell her on it because you can control the blanket 1/2's. There are two controllers for each 1/2. I gave her the controller for her side and put it on her night stand. Ha ha. After a week, she started to turn it on an hour before going to bed for both of us to warm up the blankets before going to sleep. She turns her side off when she gets into bed. I notice she puts hers on level 2. I put mine at 1.5 or so the whole night. For the pad itself, I put it directly on the mattress, then put a mattress protector over that followed by a standard fitted mattress sheet. If you run your hands over the sheet, you sort of feel the wiring, but clearly feels padded. The Pad itself is really thick and doesn't feel cheap. It feels very well made. Some reviewers have commented about the controller plug-in being in an awkward place. I chose to put it at the top of the bed where the pillows are. The plug is in the middle top on the top part of the pad. The part of the pad that stretches down to wrap around the mattress is a lighter more stretchy material. So I can see why you wouldn't build the electric plug in the lighter material area. We don't get bothered or feel the plug as it's near the edge of the mattress and between the pillows. The length of cables for the controllers is way long enough to reach the nightstands on each side. So from the pad, there are three cables. 1 for each controller and 1 for the electric cord. So, the one feature I do wish I had is a pre-heat button as in the more expensive version at slightly more than twice the price. Although the pad shuts off after 10 hours. I would have liked to have the pre-heat button with some ability to control that for 1, 2 or 3 hours length of time before the pad shuts off. I just think it would be nice to get into a warmed up bed and have the pad shut off a bit after I fall asleep. I think the next time I have to buy this, I would go for the pre-heat feature for convenience. I just hate that those features add so much to the price of the pad. For the price and what you get, this pad is a GREAT price and value. It's a great taster of how one would like the pad vs an electric blanket direction to be warm. For me... I love the pad heat more than an electric blanket.

Don't know what happened but I got mine right here on Amazon for $20 less than the current price. But this mattress pad is worth every dime. Easy to set up. As other reviewers suggested, I too reversed my pad by plugging it up at the head of the bed so I could get to the controls better. I purchased a home last year where the owners didn't upgrade or repair anything. I'm currently looking into putting insulation into the attics because there's no insulation in the home. Windows are the original so I'm loosing tons of head and the master bedroom is about 20 degrees when I wake up in the morning. I didn't want to pay allot so I chose this pad based on the excellent reviews. I put my heating pad underneath my nice plush mattress pad that I had on the bed so I don't feel any wires at all. It fits nicely over my plush queen size bed with plenty room to spare. Although the sidings of the mattress pad is a little on the thin side you just need to be careful when washing so it doesn't shred. The Pad plugs into any AC outlet and has two controls: a lighted dial that allows you to set the warmth level on a scale from L to H with numbers from 1 to 9 in-between (H would be 10). There's also a button that turns it on. I can only use it on 2 or 3 otherwise it's too hot for me. Once 'on' it will stay warm at the selected level for exactly 10 hours, then turns itself off. The heated mattress pad does what it's supposed to do and the last two nights I've slept like a brand new baby next to mom. I'm very happy with my purchase and highly recommend this item. Yes, there's more expensive ones but this one does the trick for much less money. Lightning fast delivery also with Amazon Prime. BUY IT!!

We have always used heated mattress pads because we can leave them on the bed all year long as a mattress pad. Our old mattress pad wasn't heating as well and with some extremely cold weather forecast for the next weeks, I decided to order a new one. This Sunbeam is definitely the perfect one for us. It has dual controls so we can each adjust it to our own preference. I like that there is only one plug into the blanket and it's in the middle of the bottom. Our old one had two plugs and both were located where our feet were at the bottom. This pad is also quilted and very thick. The thread count is higher than most other blankets. It has a preheat function so that the bed is already warm when we go to bed. If you turn it to preheat, once it is heated, it automatically goes to the last setting used. The pad also heats up quickly. If I forget to preheat, I can set it on 3/4 and within a few minutes it is warmed. I saw complaints about the controls not being lit. They actually are dimly lit which is fine. I really don't want a brighter light. I can easily see the numbers on it at night. I highly recommend this heated mattress pad to anyone who wants to stay warm at night. It's thick and plush under the sheets. It can stay on the bed all the time. It is also machine washable but I haven't needed to do this but it sounds easy enough.

Overall, I'm pretty pleased with this mattress pad. No huge complaints except for the hassle of the cords. There is a very long cord that plugs into the outlet, then it branches off with one cord and control for one side of the bed and another cord and control for the other side of the bed. Just putting the mattress pad on the bed was a total pain. I initially put it on as directed with the plug and cords at the foot of the bed. No. Cords all over the place! Wrapped around the entire bed and since my bed is very low to the ground, a tripping hazard. I decided to flip the mattress pad around so that the plug and cords were at the head/top of the bed and this worked out much better. The cords are way more inconspicuous with just the individual control peeking around the edge of the bed. Now that everything is in place, I feel that it was totally worth the effort of getting it just right. And I love that you can control the heat on either side of the bed to your individual preferences. Which, it does get really, really toasty on the higher number settings. Another feature that I like is that it stays on all night rather than shut off on a timer. That way, you don't wake up 4 hours into your sleep freezing cold and needing to fumble around to push that control button again. I see that some people have complained that you can feel the heat elements through the mattress pad. I would say that this is true. You can feel and see them, even through a set of sheets. However, it's not poking into you or anything like that. It has never interrupted my quality of sleep. If you are that sensitive, I bet you could put another mattress pad over this one and completely mask that problem. In any case, I am really enjoying my mattress pad this winter. It is so nice and cozy to get into bed!

We’ve waited awhile to review this to ensure quality and durability were up to par. I originally purchased this for my RV truck camper mattress. For those who know what I’m talking about, the bed is usually above the truck cab, and is not very insulated. Even in the Spring and Fall, rolling over in the mattress has you finding cold spots as you shiver and shimmy back to your original position to find the warm spot again. This little wonder made the bed so cozy. As a matter of fact, I recently slept in the camper while it was 25 degrees outside. I turned on no furnace and no space heater. I slept magnificently. Needless to say, when I left the bed, I was freezing, but while I was tucked in, it was perfect! This was with one sheet and a light blanket, nothing else. The trick is to pull your covers up over the bed about a half hour before you climb in, so that it traps the heat in. I loved it so much, we decided to order a second one for our main bedroom in the house. My wife keeps hers on low (available settings from 1-10), and I set mine on 3-4. It is like climbing into a warm sleeping bag. It is not too hot, and it is not designed for therapeutic heat. It’s just a cozy, all night, gently warming, evenly heated pad. Remember when you were a kid, and you’d cuddle up next to someone on the couch? That’s what this feels like. Like a baby cozying next to his/her mama. I can’t praise this device enough, and it has been flawless for us (both in the RV and in the house). I HIGHLY recommend this mattress pad.

Cold feet in bed no more. This mattress pad is a game changer crawling into bed during winter months. It feels so good getting into a warm and cozy bed especially for my feet. This mattress pad distributes heat from your head to your toes and the heat radiates upward soothing your back and making the whole experience yummy. Really, it’s amazing. I am not a fan of electric blankets as I find them to be claustrophobic and they heat you from the top. The other issue with electric blankets is the fact that heat rises. Having the mattress pad as the heat source allows the heat to radiate up into your back and it also warms your sheets and blankets above. The timer feature is an essential component as I am a warm sleeper and don’t need the bed heated all night long. There several timer settings or continuous heat. The controller is compact and is always right next to my bed. It’s tethered and will always be in the same place — now, where did it put the tv remote? Finally, having the controller close makes it easy to preheat the bed and when I climb in I usually turn the heat down and that doesn’t disrupt my timer settings. I definitely feel as I am getting a better quality of sleep and find the heat incredible soothing for my back. I would even go as far as saying it reduces tension if my back is stiff and really relaxes the muscles. Nothing feels better on a cold night than crawling into a bed that is already nice and warm.

I had owned an older model Sunbeam Heated Mattress Pad for many years before the heating element on my side of the bed gave out. Only my wife was able to sleep warmly and comfortably! I ordered this pad to replace the old one and I am satisfied with the quality and overall performance. I have noticed that the heating element doesn't seem to fully extend to the end of the bed, so my feet sometimes aren't receiving much heat, but only when I'm lying flat on my back, which is not so often. I can feel the wires a little bit, but this is not really a problem and doesn't bother me at all. The temperature control that came with this pad was clunky and pretty difficult to operate, especially after you've lain down, because it's difficult to see and clumsy to turn the dial, which works like an old TV channel selector and "clicks" into position. However, I discovered to my delight that the new pad works with my older controllers, which are digital and operate by touch, so that problem was solved! (I did verify that both controllers operate at the same specs, so there was no danger in swapping them out, and the old connector fit perfectly into the new pad's receptacle as well.) The important thing for me was to replace my old, defective pad at a good price, and this one, along with my older controllers, did the job.

We own two of these at the moment a king and queen. Our daughter's room stays ice cold and this has helped her stay warm at night. She loves it. We have one on our bed as my husband and I have a difference in opinion on what sleeping temperature should he-lol. Both the queen and king come with dual controls so you can control each side of the bed. My higher heat dies not distribute to his side either. It heats up rather quickly. I usually start them at 10 to get into a warm bed and then can lower it from there. Both our king and queen mattress are thick (queen having an extra thick pillow top) and they fit with ease. When putting it on the bed I was concerned about the wire feel that runs through it to distribute the test but we cannot feel them while sleeping. We have not washed them yet--we have purchased multiple heating blankets in the past but they never last through 2-3 washings and eventually heat distribution diminishes. I am curious as to the durability of the matress pad cover if it'll last through multiple washings or not. At this point I would definitely recommend this particular product.
