It took a few times to perfect it, after day 3 of being on the beach, we finally figured out how to set it up most importantly, especially on a windy day you need to fill up the pockets with sand to the very top! If not, it will all come crashing down, because the polls are not very stable in the sand. I got the XL size for our beach vacation this year and we loved it. So easy to set up and take down, and nice and cool underneath. My favorite part: I could sit under there in my beach chair without wearing sunscreen and not get burned, which was so nice when I just wanted to enjoy the breeze before reapplying sunscreen. Anyway, it took us 1 day of using it and seeing how it worked to “perfect” our technique and learn how to set it up to be totally wind proof, but if we can do it, anyone can. the fact that it can be done with just sand weighing down the corner pockets is a miracle. No stakes or complicated parts needed, and including a little scoop hand shovel that fits in the bag is a nice touch. With 3 people, it’ll take you about 5 min to put up and 5 to take down. You can definitely set it up alone, but it would take longer. As for head clearance, I am 5’5” and the ceiling regularly brushed the top of my head. 10/10 recommend! ... show more

I really like these. You can pack it in a suit case for a trip to the beach. One thing to note, the instructions say to overfill the sand bags. They are not kidding. If it's wind, you really need to take the time to get as much sand as possible in them.

We just got back from Panama City Beach Florida and I have never experienced wind like we did this year. The rip current was the worst I personally have ever seen. It took me the first day to figured out exactly how much sand to put in the bags but I finally found the right way to do it. Over fill the bags! Even if the wind is light at the time you put the tent up the tide changes and the wind gets stronger. I dug holes to place the bags in as I filled them and then I over filled them to the point sand was coming out of the top. I stretched the tent out even more and adjusted where the holes where a little and then went through and put the poles under the tent and had them kinda angled towards the wind. I put the bands over the top of the pole twice and then pulled the little button tight and wrapped the band around again. This was the ticket that worked for us. Sounds like a lot but it didn't take long at all and I was able to do it all by myself. I bought the XL and we fit 6 chairs and coolers under there comfortably. ... show more

Pros: Great product for the beach. It will hold up to high winds. There is a bit of a learning curve but it is worth it. Cons: I don’t believe it’s UPF 50 because you can feel the rays coming through. I gave a 4 star because of that.

    • Easy to Assemble and Withdtand Windy Conditions

Had previously bought the dome type tents that took us more than a full hour to put together-so this item needed to be replaced, which we did. Assembling the 4 outstretched nylon with UV protection was a breeze at the beach. It came with a plastic shovel to fill up each of the 4 pockets. It would be nice to have a second shovel to speed up the sand in each of the 4 pockets. We spend 4 hours underneath the beach tent and did not get any sunburn. At first we did not stretched it out too far, but someone helped us with the assembly and it actually increased our shaded area. Each of the pocket is weighed down with wet sand to make it more stable foundation. The 4 poles also needs to be dug deeply to stretch out the top of the tent.     • Quick and easy to setup.

Fast and easy to setup (that is once you get all the protective shipping plastic off the legs). It takes a bit of practice to figure out the appropriate setup order. 1. Lay out the fabric. 2. Stake or sandbag fabric to ground. You want it slightly stretched out. 3. Put the 4 leg poles in place near the corners, you need the fabric to be fairly tight 4. You may have to tweak you stake placement to get proper tension all the way around The trick is to getting sufficient tension all the way round to make it stable. It will sway a bit in the wind. We visit the Gulf every year and usually pay to have a tent set up everyday. This year we purchased this tent in hopes to save several hundred dollars. This tent was excellent!! Extremely easy to put up! Offered shade for 10 people. The shade makes the beach feel at least 15 degrees cooler. We were concerned about the poles buckling in the wind but didn’t have any issues. Tips: lay out the tent flat on the sand then pull out the sand bags as far as they will go and fill them to the max. ... show more
