“We’re gonna win this race, right Admiral!?!” They certainly don’t make them like this any more! Back in the 1980’s, movies had heart. And when I say heart, the late-great John Candy really delivers. There were so many genuinely funny and family-driven moments in this great film. I honestly had forgotten even a Jimmy Buffet song is featured during the restoration of the Barnacle! You can also tell the cast had a lot of fun putting this all together, as compared with movies today where the cast all hate each other and don’t even want to be in the movie. It was also interesting to see the late-great Richard Crenna play such a villain! I’m used to seeing him as the father-like Colonel Samuel Trautman in the Rambo movies. It’s a great movie right up there with Chevy Chase’s “National Lampoon’s Vacation” and John Cusack’s “Better Off Dead.” If you enjoyed those, you will definitely enjoy this one. ... show more
