best looking portable midi keyboard around! not just for kids
Color: Walnut Color
PROS: - looks great! i'm using this as a midi keyboard controller for live performances and i've received a lot of comments about how nice it looks. the wood is more like a velum covering a pressboard type wood, but that's to be expected for a $50 'kids' piano. - has midi out with velocity sensitivity! you can connect it to apps on your phone like koala sampler or the free decent sampler app on an ipad, or even connect it to ableton on a laptop to get much much cooler sounds than the crappy built in piano sound. - both midi out and the built in piano sound work at the same time. so you could actually process the piano sound in a laptop while also sending midi to the laptop for some more interesting effects. if you want to only use midi, you can turn the piano's volume all the way down on the back to right before turning the power off, so you won't hear the piano out of the speaker - or you can plug a 1/8" cable into the headphones out to bypass the speaker, if you only want to hear the midi/app from your phone. - pressing the keys down feel pretty good, there's a nice resistance. they are about the size of a normal piano's keys. not actually small for kids fingers, so for kids who are learning to play on a real piano, that's actually a good thing. - battery powered! can be powered by a 5v/2a usb battery bank, or a few AA batteries. ive taken this outside and jammed with friends in the park, no problem. - usb port works for song playback, just put wav or mp3 files onto root of usb stick and when you plug the stick into the back of the keyboard, they auto play (in alphabetical or numerical order) through the speaker, or headphones out - a sustain pedal(not included) works great with this, although it's hard to tell that it's working with the built in piano sound- the piano sound doesn't really sustain for a long like a normal piano would. but using this as a midi keyboard with ios apps or the laptop, the sustain pedal works really nicely with a sampled piano, in something say like native instruments kontakt. however the sustain input port on this is 1/8" so you'll need a mono 1/8" male to 1/4" female adapter to use most all sustain pedals - the speaker on this is quiet (which is actually great for when your kid is practicing terribly haha) - the slot for where the sheet music backer (the extra wood piece that comes with this), actually is the perfect size to fit an ipad mini, or your phone in! which is great for on stage. CONS: - the midi has a bug where notes get stuck if you hold any key for over 5 seconds, and then tap any other key, then let off the initially held key, that note doesn't turn off until you press that key again. fairly easy to work around in most software, or just avoid holding keys too long with the left hand while doing soloing with the right hand (i.e. use a sustain pedal and create a "keyboard split" in your daw so the sustain pedal only works on the left most octave, which you can use for chords) minor nitpicks; these don't really affect me for what i'm doing with this keyboard, but i figure it's worth mentioning anyway: - piano sound is quite generic and terrible (which is obvs ok for kids), i got it to sound pretty interesting running it through some effects pedals though. - the bluetooth connectivity is pretty bad, at least with my older ipad, the music kept losing the connection after a few seconds of playback. when connected, you can play songs from your phone through the speaker (or headphone out on the back of this keyboard) - when plugging in headphones, the built in piano sound doesn't sound good, it's coming more out of the left side. however the usb stick playing music, that sounds great coming out of the headphones. anyway, this really isnt a problem if you are plugging the headphones out into say a speaker, it's just only really noticeable in actual headphones. all in all for the price i think the pros far outweigh the cons with this item, especially for if kids are going to be using this! and with midi capability, you just can't get a more adorable and beautiful looking midi keyboard for more serious tasks, it just feels great to look at and to play.

4 stars, good piano!
Color: Walnut Color
pros: nice keyboard , good sound, transports easily, can use batteries or a plug in adaptor cons: sheet music stand is a little flimsy, would have been nice to have little rubber feet on bottom so it doesn't slip/move around, have to be careful if using batteries, they drain quickly if its left on!

Defective
Color: Pink Color
I bought this as a Christmas gift for my daughter and was really excited about it. It stayed in the packaging for a few weeks while we were out of town, but when we finally opened it, it only worked twice. We replaced the batteries two different times and it still wouldn’t turn on. Unfortunately, by the time we realized it was defective, the return window had passed. It’s a big disappointment since this was her main Christmas gift.
