A good light for the money. I bought this for a full size Glock, so a portion of the light is barely cut off. Overall, my intention was to minimize the footprint and save my bank account. The TLR-6 does just that. It fits securely, and the battery door does not pop open easily (I had to use a knife to install the batteries) like a couple reviews have stated. I have not tested how long the light holds up for, and honestly don't plan to. This is for home defense and if for whatever reason I notice the light dimming, I will just change batteries. The light is bright enough to illuminate a big room. Not even close to the TLR-2, but I did not want a full size light so I am happy with the results. I did shine the laser outside and it went about a football field to the treeline behind my house. Good enough for me, and I doubt you will EVER need it that far anyways. Zeroing was a breeze. I zeroed it at 15 feet. The laser is just barely above my sights. You can have both the laser, and light on at the same time, as I have shown in a picture. If you are like me, and just looking for something decent without killing your wallet, give this a try. Especially if you have a compact or a sub compact. I highly recommend this product. I have been using streamlight products since 2012, after switching over from surefires overpriced junk, and am so glad I did. I have NEVER had a bad streamlight product. Give this TLR-6 a shot. The only improvement they could make to this, is making the same exact version but for a full size, that takes cr123a batteries (and possibly with a green laser). They are very functional, don't get me wrong. But for the price and my needs, this design is more practical. Come on streamlight, make a tlr version for us 'full sized' guys. You can easily do it without the round ugliness and shiny rims. In order to toggle the light, laser, or both on, all you have to do is hard press one side and toggle with the other side. As far as practicality for use immediately after brandishing (unholstering), you would not have your finger on the trigger to do so. I honestly only consider these things as a backup anyways, and if I did need them, I would have enough time to toggle them in the first place. Every scenario has a counter scenario and it is what it is. If you knock a weapon light/led, then why TF are you carrying in the first place.... "I'd rather have it and not need it, than need it and not have it". -Everyone who EDC's. WARNING! Do NOT buy the 'recommended' Viridian batteries. Amazon has them pushed to the front and they are the ones with the green rubber around them. They do not work in the TLR-6 because of the green plastic around them. Buy another brand. ... show more

Initial Observations: It's about time! I have been waiting for a light to come out for my Glock 26. I am a Law Enforcement Officer and carry a backup G26 in my cargo pocket while on duty. The G26 fits nicely in the pocket with a pocket holster and uses the same magazines as my full size Glock 17. The only problem I have been facing is with my off duty gun. I wanted to carry the G26 off duty and concealed but really enjoy having a light on my off duty gun (identifying the threat is where people run into problems in low light). I also like the idea of being able to carry the G26 with a full size G17 magazine ready to go should the first magazine fail or I need more ammunition. I just thought a light would never be able to be attached on the pistol due to the pistol not having a rail for attachments. Then I was told about this set up, the TLR-6. I have always enjoyed Streamtlight products. I have never had issues with any of their lights. I have Streamlights on my duty pistol and patrol rifle (M4) already. So, I ordered the TLR-6. The light also had the built in laser, which I was not wanting too much, but I found out the laser can be turned off if you want it turned off. The light fit on my pistol perfectly. The pistol and the light look like the pistol came that way. It was also a quick and easy 5 minute install. The light was also very bright for the size of the unit. Reliability: I shot a few hundred rounds through the pistol using the light and have not had any issues. The unit feels very durable and turned on and off when I wanted it too. On/Off Button: I did notice the button on the light sits far enough forward that someone with short fingers may have some trouble reaching it. I am 6'2" and have normal size hands for my height. I did not find any problems reaching it, but my wife did. I enjoy the fact that the light is ambidextrous, since I am left handed. I can turn it on and off with my left index finger. I also liked that the on button could be pressed lightly to activate the light and released to turn the light off or you can press the button firmly to have continuous light. Battery: The battery is easy to access with the light on the gun. For sight in, I used the allen wrench it came with to sight it in with my iron sights. This took five minutes and was very simple. Holster: This was almost a deal breaker for me. Unless you are placing it next to your bed, why would you want a light on a gun without a holster? I needed a holster that I could continue doing pocket carry with and I also needed a holster I could use for concealed carry. I like Kydex the best due to moisture issues I have had when using leather for concealed carry. I chose to go with Gladius Holsters ( [...] ). I was told by another cop that they make great products and can make holsters to fit lights on pistols. I was impressed. Gladius made a pocket holster for duty carry and an appendix carry holster for off duty concealed carry. The holsters are very durable and exceeded my expectations. It is strong stuff. I posted a picture of me carrying appendix carry with this light in a holster. So far, this seems to be a decent product. It is a cheaper type of device. it does go good with a Glock 19 pistol. Time will tell if it lasts.
