  • Decent IR light/laser, good for the price
Color: Black
My agency has had 17 of these for 2+ years. Initially, we had consistent issues with the screw attachment breaking under recoil. The screw would begin to loosen, allowing the light to wiggle slightly. The light would then jackhammer itself to death until the screw would shear off at the base of the threads. Sometimes this would happen before the end of the first magazine. We were using Sig P226 .40 pistols at the time. The issue went on for well over a year, and most of the guys went back to using their regular TLR1 lights, as they have a beefier screw that doesn't break. Streamlight was very responsive in sending out a box of 30+ sets of replacement parts, but at the time, I would have given this light a 1 star rating. About 4 months ago, we switched to Glock 45 9mm pistols. Since then, there have been zero issues regarding loosening or breaking under recoil. I zeroed the laser at 15 yards and witness marked the screw with a paint pen. I then removed the light, re-attached and lined up the marks, and then confirmed that the zero did not shift. If you follow this procedure for battery replacement, there should be no issues, especially for the type of shooting you most likely will be doing under NODs. The white light is advertised as putting out 300 lumens. In a world of 1000+ lumen pistol lights, this seems rather weak on paper. In practical use, the light is plenty bright for entry work. In a side by side comparison, it appears to be about on par with the 500ish lumens of the new TLR7a. While I agree that there is no such thing as "too many lumens", this light definitely does the job, especially if you're on a budget. The IR illuminator is pretty much a flood light. It provides enough illumination for interior use, but at longer distances outside, would probably be a little lacking. The laser is bright enough to be picked up easily with decent NODs. Under near total darkness while the light is aimed directly at you, you can easily see the red signature put out by the IR floodlight, but that's just the nature of the beast when you're using IR. As long as you're aware of this and train around the issue by splashing the IR light off the floor or ceiling while searching, then you should be good. Overall, I would say that the value is high, considering that other options can cost 2 to 4 times as much. I also like that it fits in the standard TLR1 holsters. Since the problems we had been having seem to be resolved by switching pistols, I purchased two more and have had no problems with the new ones. ... show more

  • Works but has design flaws
Color: Black
The good : decent lower cost way to aim with n.v. Stays zeroed. Compact. The bad : must remove from weapon to change battery, unlike other Streamlight weapon lights , therefore have to rezero afterwards. IR laser and light both come on together, no way to run only one or the other ( three position switch-IR light/laser, off, white light). White light is fairly weak, probably because of the unit only using one battery as opposed to two (3v vs 6v). Elevation and windage adjustments are a bit tricky. ... show more

  • Great functionality. Highly recommend.
Color: Black
Great tool for night vision users. Purchased 3 recently. Mounted on an AR15, AR10, and Glock 17. AR15 & Glock have been zeroed at 50 & 25 yards. Very happy given the price. Next closest competitor is over double the price. Visible light: I was happy enough with the visible light on this that I did away with my HLX. Definitely not near as bright but was about to light up a tree line 250+ yards away. IR Laser: About perfect. Laser is incredibly visible even at nearly 1000 yards. IR light: The nights I tested had decent illumination under night vision I didn't get a great feel for what it's capable of. Best I was able to do was use in my garage with no ambient light. Under those circumstances, it was great. Minus having a visible laser, this is the same functionality as the PEQ-16 without the astronomical price tag. I wish there was a way to use the IR laser without the IR light but not a big deal. I find the "off" switch to be unnecessary and don't see why that couldn't be replaced with the IR laser only. Fits all holsters I own that are made for TLR1 lights. The battery trap door is a step backwards from the TLR1s I own. The slight design change makes opening more difficult. Also, seeing how this has an IR laser that is zeroed, I don't like that it have to remove the device from my firearms to change the battery. Also uncertain if the trap door for remote pad is compatible with this seeing how it is slightly different. The change in the trap door is why my review is a 4 star. ... show more

  • IR illuminator works
Color: Coyote
The IR illuminator is very dim but for 1-20 feet perfectly usable. It fits in a T-Rex Arms TLR-7 holster surprisingly. Have fun re-zero'ing after changing out the batteries.

  • A solid choice and option...
Color: Black
Initial order and receipt was sketchy, generic packaging, previously opened and rummaged then apparently returned repackaged and resold to my. Created a return ticket, did so, got refunded and reordered as recommended by CS. So upon receipt of the 2nd order I find the same generic packaging and happily inside an actual factual legit VIR 2 weapon light. Upon setting up and testing its pretty much everything I wanted and needed. Night vision compatible IR illuminator with reasonable capability and function and an integrated IR laser that runs simultaneously as the illuminator, the only real downside is that's default and not optional. But it works as advertised and more than sufficient for my use/needs and likely yours to. This is a very affordable option to a PEQ module or comparable device with again more then adequate performance for most applications. ... show more

  • 👍
Color: Black
Great for entry level IR. I don't need anything fancy. Short battery life. It also saves room not having to mount a rifle light and ir device. I have used other IR lasers such as holosun and peq -2. I prefer this over the holosun.
