I chose this over the rechargeable one because I did not want to deal with USB ports getting broken or rechargeable batteries going bad or even exploding in high heat. I wanted the most dead simple flashlight I could get, and it doesn't get simpler than some AAAs and an LED. This light fits well in my standard jeans pocket, its similar to a sharpie in size, but a little thicker. The pocket clip is my only real gripe, I think it can bend a little too easy and the flare at the end of the pocket clip gets caught on the hem of my shirt sometimes and the light gets pulled out of my pocket. This does not happen very often, just something I noticed. I also would have preferred that the clip was positively affixed with screws, because the clip can slide around and rotate around the body of the light. I fixed this on mine using epoxy in between the holes on the clip itself, almost like it was made to allow for that. Anyway, some epoxy made this a non-issue for me. This light is bright. It small, so set your expectations for a smaller flashlight but it will blow an iPhone flash out of the water. So much brighter than a phone. I love the durability of this light! It really shines here, no pun intended. I have used mine for about 8 months now, in heavy machinery, industrial control panels and electric gear, car mechanics, and all around the house. Its been dropped from high and low, it got crushed once when a motor fell on it, its been extremely hot too in the heat of a truck cab in the sun. Its been covered in oil, brake fluid, gear oil, coolant, and so much mud. It goes everywhere my hands go and has not skipped a beat. I just rinse it off afterwards and we are good to keep trucking. I was a little worried about the rubber over the button degrading in all this but it still feels new, no worries there. Not to mention that its replaceable so if it does go back into goop I will just replace it. If you do any work with your hands and need a flashlight, this is for you. This is one of the best pen type flashlights I've ever owned. It's bright and doesn't eat up the batteries like most. I've had the blue one for over 6 years. I lost the blue one a couple years ago. Then ordered the silver one. After the silver flashlight arrived I found the blue one in my driveway. My truck ran over it and it was sunk down in the gravel and dirt. Took it in cleaned it off and worked fine, didn't even dent it Missing about two weeks. It's lightweight and waterproof. What I liked about it is I wear overalls all the time and it fits comfortable in my bib front pocket along with my pocket knife. I always have it with me and has come in handy hundreds of times I don't leave home without it. As for buying it again, just as soon as I thought the blue one was lost I re bought the silver one. I have 2 of these lights. Got a second one when I misplaced, then found, my first one. Had the first one for around 5 years now and still works great. They gets used daily. I like that you can but replacement pocket clips and power buttons if those should fail. I got the Streamlight Stylus Pro penlight on the strength of its many great reviews both here on Amazon and on various internet flashlight review boards. I got this one in 'silver' because so many of the other high performance LED flashlights out there all only come in the standard anodized black aluminium finish. The Stylus Pro looks great in this finish, almost like a largish aluminium pen. In fact, the finish is silver colored, but it is not a silver paint finish. Rather, it is the aluminium finish itself. I think that this may hold up better over the long run than the black anodized finish, but who knows. This light has been great so far. It produces a reported 24 lumens for up to 7.5 hours. The best thing about it is the fact that this slender, small penlight runs on 2 x AAA batteries! Awesome. I compared the light on this light to a Fenix E01 (1 x AAA) and a Fenix L1T v2.0. The E01 is only rated at 10 lumens, and it not meant to produce a strong outdoor light, so it doesn't compare in terms of brightness. I'd say that the L1T on the lower of its two output levels seems to be as bright as the Streamlight, if not a bit brighter... so I'd say that maybe the 24 lumen output rating might be a bit optimistic. Still, this is a very bright flashlight given its small size and AAA battery power source. The light beam has a nice center spotlight, giving it decent carry, as well as fair amount of spillover for general floodlight as well. It's also a good compromise in terms of offering a light bright enough to light your way outdoors at night, and plenty bright for indoor use and/or reading maps and such. It's built acceptably well, and I really like the fact that the light is activated by a rear-mounted pushbutton forward clickie (momentary on) and not the usual twist-head motion. This is almost impossible to find on slender AAA battery powered flashlights. It makes the Streamlight so easy to use, especially since there's only one light level and only one mode: ON or OFF. The only minor drawback is that this light will not tailstand. It also comes with a basic ballistic nylon carrier and a black clip that you can see pictured. What a great product at a great price. I am going to be buying more for gifts, and I am sure they will be a big hit. ... show more

I'm a fleet mechanic and have over several years used many pocket flashlights, some well known brands and some cheapos. This thing is the best. It is very tough. I've dropped it and leaned on it and allowed my grandson to play with it and it still looks new. It makes a very bright light to explore under and around the vehicles and machinery I have to deal with. What surprised me was the fact that even without the ability to change the focus of the beam it works very well at various distances in the work enviornment. When I've used it outside as just a flashlight it astonished me. It will light a path. With its bright center and halo effect surrounding that it would be a good headlight. I'm using lithium batteries, so I'll probably retire before it does. Two trivial issues kept it from getting a five star rating. At really close distance it is too bright, but that is adjustable by holding it back a bit. Then there is the switch. It requires a rather hard push to activate, I suppose to keep it from happening accidentally, but I'm rather lazy and spoiled, so it bugs me some. Still, I love it and will be getting more. Update: Having used this light for a year in a very rough service environment I am even more impressed. It has survived some mishaps and just general rough treatment with no more than some very small scratches. It has been dropped on concrete numerous times, kicked around the floor, pinched in doors, munched on by grandkids, doused with several fluids, and still looks and performs like new. The switch issue went away either through loosening or my getting used to it. And contrary to at least one reviewer it does lock in the "on" position if pushed to the "click". Second update: 1/3/2016--Have used this gem now for over 3 years. Everything above still stands. Only one little issue. The rubber end cap finally ripped, and it's been so long I forgot where I put the replacement that came with it. Seems Streamlight wants me to purchase the entire end cap w/ clip and all. I will if I don't find that hidden cover since this is the best light I have ever carried. ... show more

Perfect bright light for everyday/night use. My AAA Streamlight is perfect for me as security officer and machine technician. My light is always with me (small belt holster); it is bright (!); small enough to always carry and hold; and it doesn’t have the annoying strobe feature that too many lights have incorporated (I hate having to cycle thru several modes to get to my desired beam). So I’m very happy with one bright mode of operation. I’ve used this particular light several times daily for over a year now, both in my job (repairing machines at night or dim-lit areas, security work at night —dark urban corners, vehicle checks, and under stairwells—, or for personal use of looking under my car seats for lost items. I’ve used larger “tactical” flashlights in the past, and while their heft is reassuring, they are an item which I must remember to grab to take with me, and bigger lights are not always convenient to carry, especially in daytime hours where suddenly I might need illumination inside a machine or under a car. My Streamlight is ALWAYS with me on my belt or in my shirt pen pocket. (I did manage to lose the pocket clip, however). I also use this light when travelling—convenient to light up unfamiliar surroundings or to rummage thru my dark backpack, or check under my hotel bed for any lost items. This light has never once failed me. Battery life (AAA x 2) is excellent, the tail switch always functions, and the brightness is outstanding.
