  • Minimal texture, sturdy stock
This brand is one of the better value watercolor papers i've purchased. I like it because it has a very sturdy stock and it takes color brilliantly. The texture is very minimal, it runs pretty smooth to touch, but you can see some texturing if your brush is dry enough. Some might want this, some might hate it. In addition the paper stock is very sturdy and can hold much heavier materials than water color (great for mixed media, collages, heavier paints). You can see in some of my photos that there are actual glass beads in the paint I use, and the paper presented no problem in holding them. My only criticism is that it doesn't absorb water very well and is very quick to warp or ripple. You must be very strategic with the amount of water on your brush if you are painting watercolors --which may be your style. Terrible for doing big wet washes though. I'm a beginner watercolorer and I bought some watercolor pencils to try out. I realized how bad they were on regular paper so I decided to get some actual watercolor paper. I chose this one for the price initially but since I've used it I'm really glad I did. The pages are really big. I like that I can practice on these and not worry about how much they cost. ... show more
