I have been STRUGGLING with wobbly bats at my studio, nothing seemed to resolve the issue and I'd never had such a problem with bats shifting in the past, so I was getting pretty frustrated and was at a loss, I'd resigned to just not using bats. I stumbled on this product, and for $10 I thought, heck, I'll give it a try. And let me tell you, WOW! Over time, my wooden bats (and even plastic ones) get warped or worn, and this mat helps them last longer. This BatMate is a synthetic(?) flexible mat that has the texture of wet velvet. You put it on your wheel before putting down a bat, and it helps it stay even, without wobbling or shifting. It's so useful for keeping an even spin, even with wonky bats or wet surfaces.

This morning I used the Sthmeyue BatMate to demonstrate how to throw a 4lb bowl on a bat. First, I dunked it in my bucket before gently wringing it out and then I placed it on my wheel head, over the bat pins. Then I placed my bat on top and threw my bowl as usual. The Batmate is such a game changer if you use bats and hate when they jiggle, especially while centering. The Sthmeyue Batmate absolutely steadies the bat and keeps it in place. 100 percent recommend!

I didnt Even realize how much I’d love this and need it! Bat pin holes work great. Before batmate id just smear some soft clay on the wheel to help stabilize the bat, or fill in the bat pin holes with clay. This does the job without that extra mess. Perfect to use at the studio!

This BatMate is something I've needed for ages! I have a stack of well-loved masonite bats who's holes have worn and enlarged over the years. I tend to not use them for throwing anymore because of the shimmy caused by the loose fit over the bat pins. This BatMate has eliminated the wiggles and I can reintroduce my older bats to regular use again. Highly recommend!

I really like this mat! It's awesome because I don't need those tricky bat pins. I just wet it, put it in the middle of the wheel, and place my bat on top. It's really thick and super strong for when I'm working with clay, and taking the bat off is easy; no prying needed!

I got this for in between some of my warped bats and so far it is great. It is the material that is used for cleaning/drying your car. It gets hard when dry but it is soft and flexible when moist. I cannot talk on how long that it will last, but I’ve used it a few times now and it has held up well.
