The same year, Boeing introduced the first-ever commercial airplane with a pressurized cabin. Called the Stratoliner, it was able to reach new altitudes, opening the skies to a whole new breed of traveler. This is an amazing reproduction hat from the golden era of men's style. The felt is smooth and blemish free, although a bit thin for my taste. The caribou is probably the best color to start with, as a sedate grey blends and compliments most any ensemble. The hat came in a rudimentary, albeit serviceable cardboard hat box. It will probably not get much use, because I intend towear this work of art until it wears out. The tear drop bash is excellently executed and is probably the most conservative and appropriate cut for this particular hat. I have been channeling my inner Sinatra but, alas, even though I am now a total fashion bad ass, I still cannot sing. In this busy day and age, hats, watches, jackets, and manners are in short supply. Attire for gentlemen has always, and should still remind us that we are always in the company of others and should comport ourselves accordingly. Manners and dressing nicely is a sign of respect for those whom we find ourselves in the company of. Really, a hat is a fashion tool that forces us to slow down a bit and consider where we are, i.e., take off your hat, hold your hat and even tip it. These are signs of a well-mannered man. This is my second Stetson fedora, my first was an "open road" from the 40's. The felt on this new fedora feels just like the old one, soft and light weight. It does fit a little snug but maybe I just need a haircut. This is not an inexpensive hat but it is well worth the price. I have several Hats and, some of them were a little-below my expectations but, (all) are are just nice to have. Most have been of the correct fit , some a little off. I like to have a different Hat for the different seasons. ie. you just do not wear a wool-hat during summer and no linen-Hat during winter. I recently ordered the Stetson "Stratoliner",.. and this Hat is the best Hat I have ever owned. Quality with a ring of the past is,.. this hat! The fit is perfect and the feel is "Outstanding" to say the least. I am looking forward to Fall as,..this is a "Fur" hat and will do well for me during the colder weather. My Stetson came in a nice Stetson box and was also inside a plastic bag with extra foam material to protect and help keep its shape. This is not only a "Quality" product but,..it was very evident that packaging was of a high standard also. Yes,..you $pay$ more for for this "Brand" but you are also riding 1st Class with a Stetson Hat. Once you see and feel this Hat you will not be disappointed. I was apprehensive about purchasing a hat over the internet since you really have to try them on to see how it looks. However, after Googling several images of the Stetson Stratoliner and getting the dimensions from Stetson's website, I figured I'd roll the dice. I was not disappointed. The Stetson Stratoliner looks great, fits great, feels great, and the Cordova color is perfect. As you can see from the attached pictures, DelMonico Hatter packed the Stetson manufacturer's hat box inside a regular cardboard box for shipping and they also kindly included some foam strips/reducing tape (no charge) to adjust the fit. My only "complaint" is that the image used by DelMonico Hatter to demonstrate the Cordova color is not very accurate. As seen in the third picture, Cordova is a deep, rich brown like a roasted coffee bean. The hatband and brim edge are slightly darker. Strong Recommend. ... show more

Having long admired this,particular Stetson Fedora, and having scraped together the (well worth it) price, I was extremely pleased with this hat. There is a definite "Howard Hughes in the late'40s" vibe to it, it looks good with an outdoorsy outfit or a suit, and the quality of materials and craftsmanship are self-evident. I really love this hat and they had a great sale with a great discount. I saw someone complaining that they put a DC-3 pin on it instead of a Stratoliner and this one came with the DC-3 pin, which if you check the Stetson store it can come with the DC-3 pin. I'm very conflicted about returning it, because to replace it would cost another $57 dollars. It's only a little tight. I will not wear it until I make a decision. I only tried it on, and love it. I would have to switch colors, this was a Cordova. It is size 7 and I measured several times with a sewing tape and it kept coming out pretty exact at 22 inches. But, it's tight. I would suggest sizing up and maybe you'll have a better fit. I love it so much, that I'll gladly pay the extra to replace this one. Great bargain. Oh, and it arrived a couple days early. Backcountry did a great job. Hope they will understand if I return it. It will be my loss. It had a hidden box, with the proper Stetson hat box inside. ... show more
