    • Great choice, but don't count on the optional grab bars.
Great product. Got here fast. So much better than the items in stock at DIY stores. Really nice features. HOWEVER, This unit has "backerboards" built in behind the shower walls. Then in the future, you can add grab bars by attaching them to the backerboards hiddened behind the surround walls. I asked Sterling before installing the unit and they said it didn't matter if I installed the grab bars before or after installation... since the unit is designed to be able to add them in a few years when you are older and need them. The problem is you are given a blueprint for where the backerboards and and you have to measure (with some guesswork) to find where the backerboards are SUPPOSED to be. My contractor installed the tub/shower unit, but has refused to install the grab bars because he is afraid he will miss the backerboards and ruin the surround walls. He wished I would have told him to find the backerboards BEFORE installation. I have asked Sterling what to do and they just say to refer to the blueprint/diagram. So basically it is an unsupported product and I will never get my grab bars. Too bad Sterling couldn't just put some inconspicuous mark or design on the inside wall. Or even a decal that I could remove if I didn't think i needed it.(This is a direct-to-stud unit, which means there are no walls behind the surround walls for attaching things to.) This is a big flaw in the product marketing when considering the unit is being sold as a transition product from a middle age to an older age. ... show more

    • Brackets over creative stupidity
This is the stupidest built bathtub , brackets that come on and off after installation. Who ever created this slip on bracket is a jerk ,, bathtubs have been around so long , over creative bracket design .. stupid.. George

I bought this at a local store for a huge discount. I personally wanted tile but my husband convinced me to do a surround for lower maintenance (hence 4 stars out of 5). It really looks nicer than some I have seen, not cheap looking at all. I hired a plumber to put it in and he said it was very easy to install. I'm extremely pleased and although I still prefer the look of tile, for us it this is the better choice. ... show more

Ordering such a large item online felt a risky but there were no problems at all. I was contacted by the delivery company to arrange a delivery window. They were prompt, arriving at the early end. Once i got the drain hooked up not bad. The drain is to close to floor makes it a pain in the you know what to hook up
