  • Good kit to show kids how power can be converted to sound/light/motion
The kids loved the Delivery Robot, Prize Wheel (most), and the Sound-light-motion experiment. We have not made the clown. The Dancing crab was most requested - but unfortunately, the wired remote control switch is flimsy. It didn't work well initially and then simply stopped working. We can't tell if it is shorted or or we can replace the motor or the battery control. One good thing is that they provide some extra screws and other parts. I would also like to be able to order extra motors or battery boxes. Kids didn't assemble them, too young, but enjoyed watching them working. For a good experience start with the Sound-light-motion experiment first. most likely to work the first time. ... show more

  • Awesome teaching tool.
My grandkids love this kit. They have spent many hours building and creating. The instructions are easy to follow. So far everything has worked well. My grandkids have had a lot of fun putting the projects together. This kit has also sparked my grandson to inquire more about how electricity works. Luckily, I have a strong electrical background, so I've been able to use this kit to explain how electricity works. This is a great value if you know some little minds that need a little bit of exercising. This kit can be used as a teaching tool and allow for some fun at the same time. ... show more

  • Totally Awesome
I have a grandson that is totally into building things and "projects," so this was a perfect activity for us to do together (I am a retired mechanical engineer). We have done two of the projects so far, and I am very impressed. The instructions are OK - not awesome, but sufficient. The pictures are more helpful than the written instructions. What I am the most impressed with is that the components are NOT made for only one purpose, and there are more parts than necessary in each kit. So what you are end up with is a mini erector set. All of these little pieces can be reassembled in an infinite number of ways Age benchmark: My grandson is almost 7, and is adept at following the instructions that come with Lego sets. I had to help with the interpretation of only a few of the instructions. ... show more

  • Right and left brain engagement.
It seems like every toy out there is advertised as 'STEM' these days but this one truly is. That, and like the title implies, it allows kids to engage their creativity as well by customizing each robot as they like - exploring what works and what doesn't. In my home, this has led to a lot of 'why' questions, which in turn has led to discoveries. The four robots are individually packaged in zip lock type bags. The kit arrived while my 11-year old nephew was over and he and my (almost) 6 year old were engaged for two and half hours until I called them for dinner, where the topic of conversation was the robots for the entire dinner. After dinner, they both passed on anime to go back and build some more. I know you don't know my kid but let me repeat that because it's a REALLY big deal: They both passed on watching anime and instead went back to the kit. I don't know how long it'll keep his interest but his interest has been peaked and I see more complex robots in his future soon. The kit comes with a little screwdriver and very small screws that I found difficult to manage with adult hands but they'll be no issues for kid hands, you just might need to offer some direction to younger children. I babysit small children regularly and along with the screws, there are some other pieces that could constitute a choking hazard so be aware around very small children. All in all I'd say that this is a beginners STEM kit but it is probably the best introduction to STEM that I've seen. ... show more

  • Very fun and educational Robotic Stem Kit
My nephew loves building the projects in the Robotic Stem Kit sets. There are five different projects in this set. Each is packaged separately, with a detailed instruction sheet that includes questions regarding the scientific principles involved. The level of difficulty varies with each project, and adult assistance may be required on some with smaller pieces. My nephew began with the Prize Wheel and finished that on his own. A screwdriver is included, but batteries are not. These projects are very fun and educational for kids. ... show more
