My 8 year old was so excited when this arrived, and he did his best to be patient until the weekend so we could build it together. That alone tells you this kit has a lot of appeal right out of the box. This is definitely more of a real build than a quick snap together toy. There are a lot of pieces, and some look very similar to each other, which can cause problems if you grab the wrong part. That gets even trickier if your child opens all the bags at once instead of just working from the bag for the specific build they choose. We learned that the hard way. The instructions are actually quite good, which helped a lot, but there were still some steps and connections my son would not have been able to manage on his own. So for us, this was a true parent and child project rather than an independent kid build. That is not a bad thing, just worth knowing. Once built, it looks great and the remote works fine. The main issue we ran into was the speed of the wheels. They spin too fast for some surfaces. On wood floors, forget it, it mostly just spins in place or goes in a circle if you are lucky. It did better on a rug, but even there the wheels still felt too fast. Oddly enough, we had the best luck on a thick bed comforter, where it could actually get some traction, though obviously that is not a huge driving area. Even with that limitation, it was still a great little project. The building part was fun, the finished robot looks cool, and my son is already excited to tear it down and try a different version next weekend. Overall, I would recommend it as a fun STEM build for a kid who likes robots and building, especially if an adult is helping. Just know the driving performance may depend a lot on the surface you use it on.

I bought this for my kid who loves building block sets, remote control cars, and just general tinkering. This set delivered!! It's fun to build and there are multiple configurations, which is cool. Overall build quality was good. There were definitely some tricky parts or parts where the connections were a little more fragile. But overall it was great. No missing parts. I did not download the app to control it. Just as a matter of security, I avoid downloading random apps for this kind of thing. I did use the controller and my kid used the controller and it worked well. Overall this was a lot of fun and I recommend it. My kid and I enjoyed working on this together.

My seven-year-old loves this. He’s a tinkerer loves building things especially robots. But then again who doesn’t love robots. He was able to put together entirely by himself without any insistence. Surprised by the quality. Only downside the reason it’s not getting five stars is the app and the way the remote pairs it’s unclear in the instructions, but you can either have your phone/tablet paired to it or the controller but not both and you have to re-enter Bluetooth pairing mode every time you want to use your device and then re-enter sync with the remote each time and the app is to be honest, kind of garbage. The controls are not responsive very glitching crashes constantly. But as a building project, it was amazing and the price can’t be beat.

My husband and 8 year old son built this together over the course of a few weekends. It definitely required adult help in places, but they had a lot of fun doing it together. This is a really quality kit with good instructions. You end up with a remote controlled robot, so the end product is super cool. There are several configurations you can build, so now that my son has gone through it once, he can go back and try the other builds if he wants to. He plays with it in the configuration he chose, so it will probably be a while before he wants to take it apart. I have saved the instructions, though, so he can try the other builds when he wants. My husband was impressed with the set, so that really says something. I get them toys to build often, and he usually is not impressed.

This robot is great for kids that are into stem and building stuff. It is a fun project for adults and kids to enjoy. You can do it alone or build it with others as bonding time. The moving function worked just as advertised and we were able to operate it easily with the remote control. I also thought it was nice that you get to choose what design you want. There are 5 design options within the kit. My daughter built the one that was shown on the box, but the rest looked just as interesting and fun to do. It took her about 2 hours to build, but that does not include the time it took to charge. The charging does not take very long but if you want the battery to last, then you will want to charge the robot for a longer time. The set comes with a charging cable and a remote control, but it does not come with batteries for the remote, but we were able to find some batteries at home and for the price it was acceptable. To turn the robot on, you need to press a button on the robot and also turn on the remote control. This is listed in the instruction manual. I recommend this building set for ages 10 and up but below that age kids will likely need some assistance with the assembly. Overall, I am a huge fan of this product and it is a great project to do alone or with others when you need an activity to pass time on a rainy day, or distract and exercise your brain.

This kit was very fun to put together. Orientation of the LED "eyes" is a bit tricky, but not impossible. Assembly is fun, and the track treds are brewery l very well made. This set was fun to assemble, but the stickers are junk. With the difference in creations you can build, especially with instructions on how to do it, this is very much playable and diverse. Definitely worth $50.
