I ordered this kit as a supplement to our homeschool science curriculum. My kids are ten and six years old, and they were both able to make this solar system. They decided to create their own unique solar system rather than having it look like the actual planets. The instructions are easy to understand and we found that it was helpful to use toothpicks to hold the planets while painting them, in order to avoid finger prints on the styrofoam balls. To dry them, we poked the toothpick into the box it came with. We let them dry over night and now only need to assemble them. It's a nice set for kids of all ages, the only thing it would complain about is the top ring the planets hang from. While the planets are only made from styrofoam and are fairly light, it would still be nice if the ring that holds everything was made from sturdier material. ... show more

Purchased for my 5yr old Grandson for Christmas. He went straight to work on it he did about 80% of the project alone and it was hanging above his bed the same night he received it! So obviously he loves it, and it's very cute! So 5/5 stars from us!

    • Poor quality and packaging - save your money
The paint was dried up when the product was recieved. The paper items are not strong enough to hold as shown for displaying. And how it was packaged was disheveled and had items vent and even torn just removing from the package. We were on a time crunch and used a couple components out of the box is the only reason I didn't return it. Majority of the items went in the trash. ... show more
