Description

Color:Dark Stained Cedar The Basic G flute is our most popular key. It is small enough that most people can comfortably play it. It has a low, soothing voice. In the picture of three flutes together, it is the size of the one in the middle. It is a great choice for beginners and experienced musicians alike. The color of the wood may vary form the photos. All our Basic flutes are made from the highest quality western red cedar. This dark stained cedar flute has a homemade stain applied to darken the wood and give it a weathered, aged look. They will have a lighter colored block to contrast, and are signed with gold ink on the back.What’s Included: -One Western Red Cedar Basic G Flute -Carrying Case -Instructional Booklet Dimensions: 23 1/2" long with a 7/8" bore. The fingering holes are (from center to center) approximately 1 1/8" apart. The distance from the mouth end of the flute to the first finger hole is approximately 10 1/8".

The shipping was faster than advertised but that may be because I live in the next state over from the seller. The flute is nice but I honestly cannot compare it to anything else as it's my first flute. Out of many options I decided to go with Stellar Flutes because of their reputation and I wanted an actual instrument instead of a toy. The tuning is on point. I tested all keys upon arrival with my synth and piano and it plays in harmony with other flutes in the same G key I found on YouTube to play along with. Extremely easy to learn to play. Granted I play keyboard and a guitar but this is my first ever experience with a wind instrument and I was able to get the basics down within minutes of practice. The booklet that came with it was very informative to get the basics down. Couple of critical remarks: 1) The case that comes with it is nice but is overpriced (adds $20 to the order) and it's not very protective as it's soft. You can probably find a better case for it here on Amazon for about the same amount. 2) The block and the leather strap that holds the block down are nice but I would make it easier to adjust with a moving knot at the bottom as some other (even cheaper) makers do. After playing for just a few minutes the condensation builds up which affects the sound and you need to "clear" the flute. After looking into it I learned that this is normal with all Native flutes. However, the fact that you need to untie the strap to remove the block to dry it takes time and wiggling around to tie it back on and re-adjust it into place which is awkward and takes getting used to. Having a knot tie at the bottom for quick release and reposition would make this a lot easier and quicker considering that you need to "blow" the moisture out rather frequently. I must say though that the leather strap tie for the block is very good and holds the block in place with just one simple knot without loosening. Overall I am happy with this flute. I can tell it's a quality instrument and not a toy. The sound is very pleasant and there's just something about playing it. The whole experience sort of envelops you in some "zen" mode. I've had it for almost a month and have been playing it everyday since i got it. It is a pleasure to play. If you're considering buying a flute then you can't go wrong with this one. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. My first time purchasing a wooden flute. Always enjoyed listening to one being played. Figured I would give it a go! Been playing and enjoying this flute since opening the package. Package came quickly and wrapped thoroughly! Was like a Christmas morning having to get past all the layers of paper after opening the box! Not a problem, just seeing that they care that the flute is not damaged upon arrival. Appreciate it! The seller also included a handout with tips and a link to video instructions which was great for those not as familiar with this type of flute or if you want to brush up on the basics. I read all of the reviews before purchasing, and this one seemed the best. Gave it to my boyfriend for his birthday and he was thrilled. Sound is clear, strong and sweet if you understand know to adjust the wooden, leather strapped air hole at the top of the "keys". Note: this is NOT a clarinet or a metal flute, it has a distinctive earthy wind sound. Watch/listen to a video on traditional Native American flute to see/hear what you are ordering.
