  • Strong and secure

Nice and sturdy case. With proper care it should last a long time.

  • Good

Bought for Yamaha FG820 — fits tight (I think it supposed to be this way, although at first seemed like it may be too narrow). Despite the TSA approved lock, they didn’t have a key for it at airport security, so keep the key close if you’re going to bring it to the gate. Survived a 14 hr flight, connection (baggage was transferred through, I didn’t receive it during layover), and another short flight. Some scratching on the surface but guitar made it to the destination fine. ... show more

  • GTSA-GTRDREAD guitar case for a Yamaha FGX830C
Style: Dreadnought
Hello, friends! I bought a GTSA-GTRDREAD guitar case for a Yamaha FGX830C acoustic guitar. The case fits this guitar very well. The guitar fits tightly in the case and does not dangle during transportation. The only thing I would like to say is that at the widest point of the body the guitar fits very tightly, right next to the case, but I think that over time the inner lining of the case will shrink and the guitar will fit more freely in the case. Considering that all Yamaha FG/FGX series guitars have the same dimensions, then I think that the case will fit very well for the FG/FGX series. Before purchasing, measure the exact dimensions of the guitar; detailed internal and external dimensions of the guitar case are available on the gatorco website. I won’t post photos of the case; there are a lot of photos on the Internet and on the gatorco website. The guitar case in person fully matches the photos on the website. The guitar case is made of high quality and protects the guitar well during transportation. If you need to transport a musical instrument, then this case will cope with this task very well. The only negative I would like to mention is the weight of the case with the guitar inside. The case, along with the musical instruments inside, is quite heavy (about 7-8 kilograms) and this can cause significant difficulties when carrying. ... show more

  • Great case
Style: Dreadnought
This is a great case. I checked it as baggage for a three-transfer flight and felt no worries. Very sturdy, and the lock seems solid enough to prevent accidental opening. At the same time, it is very easy to carry around and fits in most cars.

  • Does not fit the Epiphone Hummingbird

Very nice case, unfortunately I didn't double check the size of my guitar, so it didn't fit.

  • Just what I needed to travel with a valuable instrument!
Style: Dreadnought
The case is very high quality and sturdy, latches close securely, and the guitar fits tightly into the padded, velvet lined interior. The internal storage space is large and easily fit extra strings, picks, string winder, tuner and capo. I could have fit my wire cutters in too, but didn't because I wanted to use carry-on as much as possible. The case easily fit into an overhead baggage compartment, with room left for a couple backpacks or a small bag. No one seemed to mind. But if I had needed to gate check it, I would have felt comfortable that the case would protect the guitar from the handling. But not from the separation anxiety! haha The case is a little heavy, because it's sturdy, so be prepared when lugging it through the airport. But the handle is comfortable, the case is well balanced for carrying, and it has feet and is well balanced to stand on it's own, either on its side or upright. I'm very happy with the purchase. ... show more

  • Needs some work
Style: Dreadnought
4 Stars. Im stretching for this one. With a company called Gator, your expecting a tough, hard to beat anywhere product. There is a certain level you have to live up to. Lets dive into the pro's and cons. Pro's: 1) This seems to be well built. Maybe not pelican case, drop from a plane, but it certainly looks tough. Ill update after my flight. 2) Compact. It fits my Taylor like a glove, with no addded space, and is not oversized at all. Makes for easier travel. 3) TSA approved lock, with very little security. Fits right in with regulation substandard security that is the American way. We love it, that way the case and guitar doesnt get destroyed by a disgruntled TSA agent that wasnt paid. Con's: 1) Remember the expectations that I talked about for a company with the name Gator? Well this baby better have alligator skin, or be colored Orange and Blue. It is not!!! Not only is it not orange and blue, but its black and red. This leads me to believe that it may not live up to the expectations of a Gator. Summary: I will update as time passes, but for now, this case did not meet my initial expectations. I reaching and giving them the benefit of doubt, hoping it protects my guitar and the red fades to orange. ... show more

  • Case does not fit Yamaha FGX800C Case does not fit Yamaha FGX800C
Style: Dreadnought
If it helps anyone, this case doesn’t fit the Yamaha FGX800C dreadnought body. I measured my guitar very carefully and, based on the interior dimensions on the product page, it should have fit. However, after forcing my guitar about halfway in - and I mean forcing, it was *extremely* tight - and seeing the sides of the case bulging significantly outward, I stopped trying, so as to prevent damage to the guitar. The case is slightly too narrow at the lower bout. Besides that, the case seems well-made (though it arrived with a good ding in the top, which I was ready to overlook) and it’s lightweight. The latches could maybe be a bit more solid (they feel sort of snap-able) but that’s just an untested initial impression. Hope this helps. ... show more
