First time buying a gun safe. I don't have 16 guns this safe supposably holds, nor do I intend to. So therefore, my review has nothing to do with gun capacity. I did purchase this safe with biometric/combination, the larger humidity tube and lights. Shipping was surprisingly fast, simple and easy. I needed to call customer support for assistance, on something I missed, after arrival and the speed of which I had a live person on the line was equally impressive. The safe weight was over 300lbs but was easily moved into its final destination with a hand truck. Initial setup was very easy, operation and lock functionality worked with no issues. This safe is serving a dual purpose for me, the quality and workmanship alongside great customer support provides me the confidence of knowing my valuables are safe from both burglary and fire.     • SOLID and very THICK Door and walls
The media could not be loaded. This would only fit 16 long guns if they were broken down in half and store away in different areas, besides that, if you had no shelves you might get away with 8-10 and then of course 4 pistols on the door or more if you had ways to organize them on the top shelf above the long guns. It comes with a push button lock and unlock code keypad (highly recommend 8 numbers which might seem intimidating but it'll get faster as you get used to your code). It also comes with interior lights. To the people that don't rate this as a sturdy safe you need to bolt it down to the floor correctly or else the door itself (which is heavier than the walls of the safe) will make it unsafe and tip over. All in all it's worth every dollar if you want to protect your investments and your a beginner or intermediate gun collector. 5/5 sturdiness 5/5 thickness 4/5 space ... show more

Love this safe. The lock is nice, storage is great. It was a little heavy. As is to be expected. We opted to add the dehumidifier and light. Worth the purchase.

Really well built. Door hinges seem very solid. The whole safe appears to be of excellent quality. The only issue that there is no way this will hold 16 long guns. Maybe 8 with scopes...Maybe. I have 5 long guns 3 with scopes and it's a good fit. Also have 4 handguns and ammo for all along with some other documents coins and such. So that being said for my purposes, this is an excellent product. I only had a brief interaction with the Steelwater customer service team, and they were professional and courteous. Also, the delivery company was top notch...good communication and delivered within their stated delivery window. Great experience! ... show more

    • Doesn't lock as expected
This is a top quality product, but I have a couple issues to share. First, other reviews have noted this safe will not hold 16 long guns. I would like the sellers to show a picture of this safe with 16 long guns. I have 3 long guns on the left side and 1 on the right. I think I can shuffle them around and get 2 to 3 more in the safe, but that's not close to 16. If you have any optics on one, it takes a lot of the space. That eats up the space and the little shelves cant really be used. I did buy some space by putting the shorter rifle on the right. I put one of the shelves on the lower right side to raise that rifle up to the height of my shotgun on the left. That got me about 6" on the bottom right, and I have about 6" across the top. Enough said about that. My biggest problem is the locking device. I can't figure out how long it is supposed to take to lock the door when I close it and turn the handle. It's been over 30 minutes and I just turned the handle without entering any code on the keypad. The door opened. I hope this is a bad part that can be fixed easily, but if it is a bad part, I would hope that it had a different failure mode. I would rather need the key, than have the door open without entering a code. If you are wondering, I can enter a wrong code and turn the handle - the door opens. If I were an intruder, just push buttons and turn the handle. It will work with my current problem. I will contact customer service tomorrow, and I really think they will help. Everyone just needs to know to check your lock to make sure they are locking as you expect. If you had this failure, it's not working. You can enter the code, but you will not know any difference. The door still opens. If I use the key and work the lock, the system did work acouple times. Then it reverted to the issue explained above. So, I will say again - this isn't an acceptable failure mode. I would like to add one other positive note. This is a heavy item, the delivery company called the day before to schedule a time. They sent a shorter box truck and the driver did an awesome job. He truly wanted to get the safe as close as he could to my door. That company is awesome!!! ... show more

    • Great safe for the price, not 16 guns though.
Great value for the money. But like others, 16 guns is probably misleading. I've got 3 AR15s, one of which is tricked out, an AR-12 tactical shotgun, a 30-30 lever action and another 12ga. shotgun plus a couple handguns and a couple hundred rounds. That's pretty much all she wrote as to what will fit minus maybe another pistol or two. I love the safe, it's certainly built well and sturdy, but 16 guns or will not hold. ... show more
