  • Works and keepes it cool.
I updated my SP11 with a bigger and faster SSD. When I did, I wanted a heatsink that would work for this and fit. THis one works perfectly. No overheating issues, runs great and seems to do a good job of keeping the SSD from overheating during a lot of working.

  • All-in-one kit for an easy install
Really like this kit. Perfect sized screwdriver, plenty of spare parts, and the copper heatsink keeps you from having to peel off the foil from your original SSD (which is very difficult) and very likely works better. Made the install a breeze.

  • Fits original non oled steam deck not sure on others.
Exactly as pictured i have been running it on my original non oled steam deck for quite a while with a upgraded 2terra bite internal hard drive it's been doing good.

  • Kit worked well
Used this kit for my Steam Deck SSD upgrade. Worked well, however the screwdriver supplied is not the larger size needed to accurately fit the Deck's screws. Although it can certainly remove the screws, I didn't want to risk damaging the originals. I didn't use the heatsink itself, opting to use the original wrap instead. The triangular spreader "guitar pick" was the most used item and was white instead of blue. I will say it didn't mark up the case with color, but slight marring of the Deck's fine edges did occur. Nothing noticeable, but it is to be expected when using generic tools at this price point. ... show more

  • Harrowing, but rewarding.
It was nervewracking to open the Steam Deck, to install my new 2 TB drive, but it paid off. It runs faster... but hotter. The second time around, installing the heatsik and removing the ESD shield and swapping in the heatsink, was a breeze. Closed back up in 30 minutes or less, and I have noticed significant improvement in the temperatures, both by touch and monitors. It's still a beast and runs VERY warm, but I am less concerned about extended playtime endangering the SSD. Good stuff. P.S. You really do need to take out the ESD sheath from the OEM drive. That's the only way I can imagine someone was unable to close the case after installation. I have had zero issue with Wi-Fi in the home, at work, school and in stores. ... show more

  • Cooler to touch
The back of my steam deck doesn’t seem to get nearly as hot with this heating with my 1tb WD black drive. I do not notice a difference in performance, and don’t notice a reduction in WiFi either, all in I would buy again if my WiFi wanted a deck of her own

  • not useful for the steamdeck SSD upgrade
I honestly don't know how this product has so many positive reviews, no one else has had two different screw sizes come with their steam deck when trying to install a new drive?? This kit managed to only help remove the back plate and two small screws on the corners of the silver plate that is blocking the ssd/hdd in the deck, but the screwdriver provided was unable to remove the main middle screw on the silver plate hidden behind the foil-like sticker in the center AND the screw holding the ssd in place to the steam decks storage port. I was soo upset after finally opening my brand new steam deck, I had planned to be prepared and everything for the upgrade, I had my usb files ready and all for dual booting the unit just to get blocked by a screwdriver that was just too big and wasn't the proper size for the two main screws that needed to be removed for the ssd upgrade. after doing a look online you apparently needed two kinds of screwdrivers, a Philips #0 & Philips #1, I've even seen someone on YouTube use a PH000 for all their screws, I have no idea what size is provided in this kit but its usefulness stopped after the back plate was removed. I'm so disappointed, the shipping time was fast but outside of that it was a pain removing the back plate with the bar and chip, but the screws for the black plate came out with so much ease its ridiculous that I wasn't able to complete the upgrade because the seller failed to notice there were two different screw sizes in the decks screw choices and only provided one screwdriver, which will just doom newer customers that have a deck with two different screws like mine and are just looking for a quick purchase to get the right tools to handle the installation. ... show more
