There are two revisions of this network adapter: a) the initial release, which I _believe_ uses the RTL8156, and b) the current release, which uses the RTL8156BG, sometimes called the RTL8156B(S)G The latter is great -- low CPU utilization in macOS and Linux, excellent compatibility, and hits 2.5Gbps. The former... well, not so much. It's easy to tell by looking at the USB version (bcdDevice): 30.00: RTL8156 (garbage) 31.00: RTL8156B (barely working) 31.04: RTL8156B(S)G (good enough) You can also see it on the box, it will have an updated sticker showing 1522020283 below the part number. ... show more

    • Works as Advertised - 2.3-2.5Gbps on both Windows and MacBook Pro 2019
Very Very Easy to install - No drivers needed for Windows 10, and slight configuration needed for MAC OS (in network settings) but overall very easy to connect. Works at 2.3-2.5 Gbps when transferring large files from my computers to my NAS Server that is connected with a 10GbE.
