Surprised to see that the reviews (at least on my screen) under the coffee I bought are for a variety of Starbucks flavours. This review is for the Dark Roast Caffe Verona k-cups. So, first time with Verona dark roast. Bought because the box said it had flavours/notes of dark Cocoa and caramelized sugar. I have had a few of these now and here is my take. First, I use the 10 oz setting on my machine. This subdues the flavour somewhat due to running more water though than the standard cup size of 8 oz (yes, no matter how much manufacturers are now saying that 6 ounces is the "new" cup size, 8 is still and always will be a cup size to me). I also put a decent splash of non-fat milk in and a couple of sweeteners. Sacrilege I know, but gives you context. Also keep in mind that this is subjective to my tastes, but hope it helps others get a feel for what to expect. I enjoy this coffee. I do not like coffees that are "bright", "notes of berry or citrus", acidic or weak for want of a better word. I like a more robust, stronger coffee flavour that isn't bitter to me in my standard configuration. More notes of caramel and/or chocolate are more my taste. Sort of sweeter, dark and rich without harshness. Context also, budget minded I will drink Costco Bold. My other current favourite is Starbucks dark French roast which I find less harsh than the Costco Bold, but of course, not as inexpensive. I have a couple of Lavazzas that I'm trying currently too (Perfectto and Gran Selezione). Might be power of suggestion on the Verona, but I can see the dark cocoa and caramelized sugar description. I get the cocoa from the mouth feel while drinking. Take the time to swirl the coffee around and I get the dark chocolate cocoa type flavour. I don't find the coffee harsh, bright, but rather it is smoother with a nice mouth feel that allows the flavour to come thru. The caramelized sugar I get more from the after taste left on the tongue between drinks. Not unpleasant or acidic. Almost like a toffee aftertaste maybe. The coffee has a rich, deeper flavour and I don't get any of that high note citrus type flavours that I absolutely loathe. Just had the last swig of this coffee about 15 minutes ago and I'm not left with that nasty bitter left over taste as some coffees have. The ones where you feel like you have horrible bad coffee breath or you need something to get rid of the taste. Still pleasant. Cost wise, never going to be cheap compared to budget options, but if you shop around on Amazon you can find okay pricing per k-cup. I'm actually in a toss up on which I like better, the Bux French roast dark or this. I have a feeling I'll keep a stock of both. Hopefully my description will be of some help for those searching for a certain flavour profile. All the best! ... show more

I prefer Starbucks coffee over others I have drunk. I only drink Iced Coffee in the Summer and the Sumatra is a delicious strong coffee without being bitter. I normally purchase in food store, but they were not on sale at the time and ran out, so I knew if I ordered on Amazon, would get it faster. I feel I received a good buy, 60 for roughly $33.00, when in the stores I was only getting 32 for roughly $25.00. Recommend purchase unless you buy in bulk elsewhere. ... show more

So truthfully, I don’t use my Keurig that much anymore because I converted to espresso and mostly using my French press. I remember when I used cake cups these were my favorite. There are different flavors and varieties that Starbucks makes, but I feel like the k-cup’s get a little bit of water down so the dark roast works the best because it comes out more like a medium than a dark roast. I did find that if I really wanted the super dark roast, I would do two runs and then it would really come out.
