I grind my own beans in my Vitamix down to espresso-fine-grind, and these Starbucks beans make the best richest coffee I've made yet, and have tried many kinds. I think it's the way they roast the beans/time/temp to get the flavor. Because when you later grind your own in a Vitamix for 2 minutes it gets hot and re-roasts to bring out even more flavor. You use less doing this, too when brewing. But after the Vitamix, dump into bowl and set quick outside or garage or house will smell like strong roast lol. ... show more

As far as whole bean DARK coffees go, I have yet to find any as tasty or as dark. I grind as I need and it is absolutely the best, dark, rich, coffee. I use it in as a four shot espresso.... And that's basically a cup of coffee for me. I also like it iced, preferably poured over a frozen water bottle so that it isn't watered down. I am not a profound visitor of Starbucks, but I am a supporter of these beans! ... show more

    • Great but I wish they had an Organic version.
The darkest roast on the market. I have tried 10 or 15 supposedly dark roasts and been disappointed as most of the "dark roasts" are actually medium roasts. This one is very dark and has a nice bite to it, which is for me the ideal. If you like a cup of straight espresso every morning like the Italians do, this is the ideal blend. ... show more
