Better than expected
I must admit that this show was better than I expected, I saw the first episode several years ago. Originally, I didn't care for the new Klingon characters, and the ship reminded me of a pizza cutter. Then after the 1st episode, the only way you could continue was to subscribe to Paramount - yeah no! Years later, I saw that seasons 1-3 were on DVD, and the price was right, so I got the set, I'm glad I did, there are some hokey bits like the sounds and the way the ship spins after "Black Alert" - (very silly in IMO, could have done better with another phasing effect). Also, be prepared for quite a bit of character build-up and LGBTQ additions & personal affairs (why do we need all that?). Otherwise, if all that works for you, it is rather good, and I got season 4 as a follow-up. ... show more

Star Trek---the journey continues
This is not the Star Trek of the original series (1966--so long ago), the Next Generation, Deep Space 9, Enterprise, Voyager, Picard, the many original cast films or the recent Chris Pine adventures---they are all excellent and I own them, revisiting those captivating adventures often. (Well, the exception is the first Star Trek movie which was to say the least, disappointing.) Discovery is a new journey and in many ways the best. The characters are intriguing, the special effects breath taking, the stories riveting. As a child of the Winston SF series of the 50s, Robert Heinlein. Arthur Clarke and Isaac Asimov (and a host of others) ---it is reinvigorating to experience the wonder and thrill of those days again. Buy it. Enjoy it. Six stars if possible!! On to New Worlds! ... show more

Star Trek Discovery
This series is excellent, the best of all with the graphics, story line, vivid color. This has seasons 1-3 and the price is right, you would pay more if you punched separately. Strongly recommend.

Women Power! Women Power!
Review Image by Poet Minor
I am sorry that this series of Star Trek ended because in Start Trek: Discovery there were such powerful women in it. Even the backstory of the costumes designs were originated by a woman of color. I enjoyed the storylines, the imagery, the background music and of course the actors. To be able to speak a language that doesn't exist, to convey a story that isn't real and to portray a character that was formed in someone else's imagination can't be easy. It's a good buy if you're a Trekkie fan. Enjoy! ... show more

Looking forward to filling some long snowy days!
This was an Amazon recommended pick and so I got this for a stocking stuffer at Christmastime. Looking to start this series soon now that the holidays are finally put away and won't feel to guilty when I get lost in an afternoon of pleasure. Michael

Great show
I was not a fan of discovery when it started, but after watching Strange New Worlds I was curious. Captain Pike and Spock reference things that happened on Discovery. So I went back and started over. The first two episodes aren’t great but it really takes off after the arrival of Captain Lorca. Finished season one and about to start season two where we meet Captain pike for the first time. ... show more
