Ok so this set blew me away. I honestly got it for a junkyard set/mobile site set. I have previously been using a Williams 50$ set (great set essentially made by snap on) but it was only metric and it only was shallow well sockets. So, with this set you get a ton of sockets for every job deep and shallow well. This has been incredibly handy along with wrenches so this makes a great set to keep in your car or something for a diy person. Get a couple pliers and you’ll be well on your way. They do have 3 8 point sockets which are not common at al any more. But it’s nice to have if a super rare occasion comes up. Ok the draw backs for this product the latches seem cheap not the rock bottom cheap but seems like it’d snap pretty easy cheap. Only one of my sockets were loose the 15mm shallow but I’ve already shook them a lot and none come out. The laser etching will most likely wear over time leaving no trace of what socket it is not a fan of that. And to be honest the last draw back I can think of is it’s stanley (never been a fan of their products). Oh wait one more draw back will be only one extension for each ratchet. 6” for the 3/8 which I like but wish it also had a 3”. Then a 3” for the 1/4 which is fine. Pros of this set, it has so many sizes and it includes wrenches. You can’t beat the price. To my surprise they actually seem of good quality. I must say I enjoy the “black chrome” it’s visually appealing. The fact I wanted to not care and hate this set but it changed my mind to actually enjoying it. With that said I’d recommend this set thus far (still needs a lot more use before I can truly say) Side note if your wondering if the set comes pre colored red for sae and blue for metric no it doesn’t i did it with a paint marker to make it more visually appealing and easier to spot the sizes. BLUF This is a good buy and a good value for a homeowner or weekend mechanic. Pros: * The case does a good job of keeping everything in place. One or two of the sockets consistently come loose if the case is jostled strongly, but overall the tools are secure and well organized. * The quality is pretty good, and after a few months of moderate use, I have had no issues. Cons: * This set doesn't have hex or torx drivers. If it did, it could have been my one-stop home mechanic's set. As it was, I purchased a GearWrench 890040 39 Piece Bit Socket Set 1/4-Inch(13mm) & 3/8-Inch(20mm) Drive from gear wrench to round this out. * An extra set of extensions would be nice, or a converter between 1/4" drive and 3/8" so that both extensions can be used together. * The set was greasy, for lack of a better word. There was something mildly tacky covering the tools. Not a big deal Both a pro and a con (mostly pro): This set came with the 1/4" drive extension missing the retaining mechanism (ball bearing, spring). I called Stanley and their support department was very apologetic and mailed me the replacement part. Unfortunately, they sent me the driver, not the extension. Had to call back, and they sent the right part (sort of - sent the chrome version, not the black version). A few days later I received a second 1/4" extension in the mail, so now I have a long and short 1/4" drive extension. One snaps into the case, and the other stays happily tucked between the 1/4 and 3/8" drive extensions. I like the fact that this tool set is very inclusive with the most common types of mechanic tools. The case feels sturdy enough and will be a great addition to my existing tools or even be handy to keep in a vehicle for emergencies.

My knee Jerk reaction on this set is: +Easy to read #'s etched onto the tools +Seems to be decent build quality. The finish on the ratchets and sockets, and wrenches was pretty good. +Wrenches are slim, surprisingly not boxy. So, if you have a clearance issue, where you needed a slimmer wrench, this might be the set to get you there. +The case, which is black, comes opened to display, in a yellow cardboard box (Stanley flavor), with a clear plastic cover, with 15 plastic/wood screws, 3/8"(about?) course threads, holding said plastic down. I was surprised at this move, mainly because I've never seen a tool set packaged like that. I guess it protects against thieves when in the store? Anyways, probably a dollars worth of screws, if you count taxes, and the trip to the hardware store...( I kept mine) +Like some have said, some of the sockets in the set, mainly the deep sockets, near the handle, on one side, seem to want to come out of place. I took a folded news paper page, lined it up with the inside of the plastic tool case, and stuck in the tool box, closed it, then used my knife to trim the excess, Ie what stuck out of the closed box. Seems to work. A thick sheet of flexible plastic might work as well, to hold your sockets securely in place. That being said, the majority of the tools, I've had no issues with them staying in place. But the more use, the more wear on the plastic holding them, so I may get to a point where they bounce around. Not there yet. +It says, "Do not use with power tools", so don't go using these as impact sockets.. I plan on using these on vehicle maintenance and small engine repair. Time will tell how they actually hold up. I assume these will last a lifetime if I baby them. And even if some tool in the set breaks, it won't break the bank. I normally go for the obvious higher quality tools/ build quality. But a mechanic on youtube recommended these. "ChrisFix" since he's wrenching on things all the time, I figured they must be half way decent. And decided to give them a shot. ... show more

    • Great quality, affordable price
First of all these tools look great since they're in black chrome which helps identify YOUR tools. I've gotten a few comments on them from the other guys in the shop so far. I'm an entry level tech and can't afford to be spending the silly money for industrial tools like your Snap-On, Matco, MAC, etc to fill my whole tool box just yet. So I only buy the industrial things you shouldn't go cheap on like the box and impact/air stuff. I have been using these on a daily basis now for almost 2 months and they are well worth the money and are of exceptional quality. Do I expect these to last for years in a professional shop environment? No... But judging by how they've held up so far, they will definitely last until I can afford the pro level stuff. But it's also worth mentioning that these tools have a lifetime warranty as well. ... show more

I bought this as my first socket set to be working on my car & around the house. They feel very solid & they work as expected. It's a very complete socket set as it includes both metric & SAE without skipping any sizes. If you're looking for a complete set of wrenches you will have to invest on a separate wrench set. I've seen people complain about the case not holding some pieces in place, but mine holds all of them & they fit tightly. Even then, tgats just being too picky. At the end, this I great first set, you can't go wrong with it. ... show more

Really, a good basic starter set - what you'd expect for the price. The ratchets have small handles, and the wrenches are thin barred. It's like they're purpose-designed for a youth to work on small engines/projects, and not an adult to perform auto repair. With that said; these have a quality feel and design, and should hold-up well for that type of use. The look is unique. This set should keep "others" that you don't want using or losing your good tools from doing just that - let the wife, kids, and friends know this is their "go-to" case. I needed to wipe the set down as there's some coating of black stuff on everything metal that blackened my hands after 10-20 minutes of use (wouldn't want to get someone else's hands dirty - that's my department...or so I'm told). :) ... show more

    • I consider this set to be a real bargain.
I got the tool set a little over an hour ago; I've taken time to examine everything carefully. A few reviewers complained about the tools being dirty, insinuating that the tools had been used and returned and shipped again. There was a very light layer of oil on all the tools that was easy to remove; no grease, no drops or oil, and most importantly, there were no fingerprints. All the tools were in their proper place, and snap into place really snuggly, maybe a little too snug; the small ones are hard to get out. It was confusing to see two 3/8 and 7/16 sockets; on examination two of them are 6 point and two are 8 point; pretty thoughtful. The ratchets hold the sockets in place; you can't release them without pushing the button. I've never used tools with "black chrome", my guess is that the tools are powder coated; they are beautiful. I wonder though how well the finish will hold up for a mechanic that uses them every day. I will use them occasionally at work and to make repairs on my car and around the house; by keeping them in the factory box I imagine they will look good for years. Some complained about having to remove the plastic shipping covers; come on, that's just being picky picky. I like to keep a clean grease rag in the box I was delighted to find that the lid will close easily with the rag in place. I will probably change out the 1/4 drive screwdriver bits for torx bits and use my 6 in 1 screwdriver. On the box it clearly states that this tool kit was made in Taiwan. The ratchets are very good, I think my old ratchets have about a third as many cogs. I consider this set to be a real bargain. Highly recommended for both homeowners and repairmen. ... show more
