Contrary to more expensive same design levels, this one is completely metal, thus eliminating the possibility of breaking when dropped. I’ve used these for years for many projects, height of posts & gates, leveling pictures and finding rough grades without the use of transits or more expensive products. For those putting in a gravity flow water line, put a stake in the ground at either end, set a string at the correct slope with your level and measure down to the water line. Uses these to set guide lines for a stone wall. They really grab the masons string and hang on for dear life. They're pretty much perfect at their job.

    • I bought them for their bubble level parts.
I am sure these work well as line levels. However, I bought them just to disassemble and use the plastic level tube part The thin metal housing encloses a standard plastic bubble level which is used in many Stanley brand tools. I needed replacements for two of my longer Stanley levels, and replacing the entire levels would have cost way more than repairing. This was an inexpensive way to obtain the parts, plus I still have one line level left, which is all I really need. ... show more

Needed line level for outside projects all my plastic ones the string attache points broke off and I thought I was being careful very frustrating and I could not find a heavy duty level so I searched amazon and found these and worth every cent! Locks on the line very well and if you hit the line it doesn’t fly off! Great find ... show more

    • STAYS ATTACHED!
I've had one for years but I misplaced it. I've been looking (off &on) for years for another one like it, and finally found them! These are the only line levels (that I have used), that stay on your line! The others fall off at the slightest bouncing of the line.
