Description
The Stanford Wood Futon Frame is simple in style with a lot of attitude. By far our most popular design, four thick slats decorate each side arm for a minimalistic, yet stylish look, perfect for the home or cabin retreat. The Stanford is sturdily constructed with climate controlled solid hardwoods throughout, including the color coordinated seat and back decks, and reinforced with strategic metal support brackets for a beautiful piece that is extra durable to withstand frequent wear and tear. A multi-step, hand rubbed finishing process ensures an even, rich, and long lasting color stay. Futons are versatile space saving furniture that replace two pieces of furniture; a bed and a couch. A futon easily converts into a sofa, lounger or sleeper for entertainment by day and rest by night. Unlike traditional sofas or sofa sleepers where one size fits all, you can select a futon mattress that tailors to your sitting and sleeping comfort needs, such as soft, medium or firm support.

An overall review highlighting product, serivce, and assembly
Size: Full
The futon frame is beautifully colored. It came in two boxes and had a little bit more assembly work than I anticipated. Overall, I was able to put it together in 2.5 hours from start to finish by myself. It could have probably taken less time, but I wanted to make sure it was done right rather than having to go back and redo steps. The instructions were clear and had good diagrams. The hex wrench provided was a little bit big for some of the bolts/screws, but I had spare ones laying around from other self-assemble furnitures in the past and wasn't a problem. When the product was shipped, Fedex divided the two boxes into two shipments. At first, I thought an entire box was missing and sent an email to the company through amazon. Within 24 hours, I had a response. They really went above and beyond to answer my questions and concerns. If nothing else, they get a 5 star rating for customer service. Productwise, I was a little bit dissapointed to see that the wood is made from a lamination process and cut to size. I had hoped for solid wood beams. Non-the-less, I think that was kind of a high expectation for the price of the product. Additionally, the wood frame is still a solidly designed frame. The support beams for sitting and sleeping are thick enough and close enough spaced that Don't have to worry about anyone breaking it. The weakest point on the futon is probably at the connecting points where the two side panels are linked together by a long bar and supports some of the weights. However, the the interlocking points, it's held together by a metal L bracket and a (i think) 60mm bolt/screw. With an 8" spring-foam mattress, the futon is super comfortable to sit and sleep on. It does take a little bit of work to prop it up from a bed to a couch, but can be done easily with 2 people. Overall, it's a futon that looks like a solid piece of wood furniture. For a person living in an apartment, it's an eye catcher center piece (like literally, it's placed in the center of my living room). I would also recommend it with a black mattress cover to have the black straps that comes with the frame assembly process blend in and hidden from the back side. That being said, you could also just pull those out afterwards if you find them less than appealing. Since they're stapled to the inside portion under the matress, the staple marks would be hidden anyways.

Great Choice For A Futon
Size: Full
The futon came in 2 boxes, ends (arm rests), and all the rest. The larger box was in rough shape with the holes and tears taped up. Pretty unusual for Fed EX. It is attractive and nicely finished, sort of a dark oak. The wood looks to be parawood (rubber tree wood). It was made in Indonesia, reinforcing the supposition it is parawood. Parawood is a strong wood. Assembled, it is sturdy, reasonably stiff and appears strong. Laid out as a bed, I do not notice any give or flex rolling around on it, no squeaks, either, but that is why I glued the joints. It gives great naps! It needs another 3 or 4 inches from the wall to be changed from couch to bed. One adult can change it from couch to bed and back, but 2 would make it smoother. I spent about 2 hours putting it together, laying out parts, test fitting and gluing most of the joints. The instructions are clear with good drawings and the assembly is very straightforward. I recommend this piece to others.

Good quality, tough to assemble, worth the time and money
Size: Full
The Good: This futon is constructed with high quality solid wood, is attractive and comfortable for sitting and sleeping (provided you invest in a quality futon mattress). It was, however, a bit confusing for us to assemble, given our lack of experience with this sort of thing. We could've used a "blowout" diagram to put the pieces in context. Additionally, it takes two people to re-fold the futon from sleeping (back to sitting) position. That could be caused by our use of a heavy, thick futon mattress. All in all, I'm happy with the futon and would buy another.

Great product and customer support!
Size: Full
The frame came it 2 boxes. I received the arms but had trouble tracking the other box since it was under the same tracking number. I contacted DCG through Amazon and had a response the next morning. They tracked the 2nd box and kept me posted on its arrival. It was only 3 days later, no big deal. I did receive the 2nd box containing the futon frame on the day that they said it was due to be delivered. It arrived in perfect condition. All the proper parts were in the box. I was able assemble the futon with the help of a friend. The directions were fairly easy to follow and the futon was very easy to assemble. It took an hour and 20 minutes. I am very very happy with my futon frame and the 8 inch mattes that I ordered from DCG as well. It looks beautiful and feels sturdy as well as being very comfortable. I thank DCG for their prompt attention and assistance in tracking for me. It is a pleasure to give rave reviews about the product and customer support !

Pretty easy to put together by myself and I’d pretty sturdy. Matched this with a good futon mattress and voila… my new dog bed.

Moderately difficult to assemble by youself.

Attractive to look at, sturdy for a futon mattress. So far, pleased with the product. Seems to take two people to change from sitting to bed and reverse from bed position to sitting or reclining position!
