  • An overall review highlighting product, serivce, and assembly
Size: Full
The futon frame is beautifully colored. It came in two boxes and had a little bit more assembly work than I anticipated. Overall, I was able to put it together in 2.5 hours from start to finish by myself. It could have probably taken less time, but I wanted to make sure it was done right rather than having to go back and redo steps. The instructions were clear and had good diagrams. The hex wrench provided was a little bit big for some of the bolts/screws, but I had spare ones laying around from other self-assemble furnitures in the past and wasn't a problem. When the product was shipped, Fedex divided the two boxes into two shipments. At first, I thought an entire box was missing and sent an email to the company through amazon. Within 24 hours, I had a response. They really went above and beyond to answer my questions and concerns. If nothing else, they get a 5 star rating for customer service. Productwise, I was a little bit dissapointed to see that the wood is made from a lamination process and cut to size. I had hoped for solid wood beams. Non-the-less, I think that was kind of a high expectation for the price of the product. Additionally, the wood frame is still a solidly designed frame. The support beams for sitting and sleeping are thick enough and close enough spaced that Don't have to worry about anyone breaking it. The weakest point on the futon is probably at the connecting points where the two side panels are linked together by a long bar and supports some of the weights. However, the the interlocking points, it's held together by a metal L bracket and a (i think) 60mm bolt/screw. With an 8" spring-foam mattress, the futon is super comfortable to sit and sleep on. It does take a little bit of work to prop it up from a bed to a couch, but can be done easily with 2 people. Overall, it's a futon that looks like a solid piece of wood furniture. For a person living in an apartment, it's an eye catcher center piece (like literally, it's placed in the center of my living room). I would also recommend it with a black mattress cover to have the black straps that comes with the frame assembly process blend in and hidden from the back side. That being said, you could also just pull those out afterwards if you find them less than appealing. Since they're stapled to the inside portion under the matress, the staple marks would be hidden anyways. ... show more

  • Not Comfortable At All
Size: Full
The frame itself is very sturdy. It took days to put it together because it was so heavy and proved to be a challenge, but it got done. The first reason why I won’t recommend this product is The middle support beams becomes an issue when you join the back and seat decks. Once connected, the connection points are higher than the slats that connect the decks, making it very difficult to lay in the middle. I'm not sure how to fix this; perhaps create a cushion between the slats to equal the height of the center point. But then, I would have to distribute it evenly through the frame to make it level. Inserting more wood would make the bed heavier and I'm not sure if it won't affect the frame by changing from couch to futon. The difference is 1/16 of an inch. Sanding down the deck separators is not an option. Since it’s so heavy, returning it is impossible. I haven’t read anyone else having this problem so I just might have a flaw or mismatched frame. The second reason why this product got one star is because dealing with the DCG Stores provided to be a nightmare. I ordered this as a gift for someone who has cerebral palsy, so I wanted the product delivered her front door, which is in an apartment building on the third floor. Once I ordered it, I couldn't remember if I marked for it to be delivered directly to the door. Having a heart condition, I'm COVID restricted so Amazon delivers to my front door. I contacted DCG and was told that it would be delivered to the locker. I explained the recipient could not drag this heavy product up three flights. I was told "see if you can get a neighbor to help." I was stunned. I then contacted Amazon virtually in tears and explained the situation and was told, "oh yeah, we'll bring it to the door." Amazon saved the day because when it finally arrived and I went over to set it up for her, that box was so heavy it would have taken two grown men to bring it up those steps. I struggled to get it through the door. Had it been delivered to the lockers, I would have dragged it into the back of my vehicle, canceled through Amazon, and got it to a shipping center. I'll never order products from this company again. Products can be damaged, defective, or the wrong type and that's the way things go, but poor customer service is an immediate turn off. ... show more

  • 2 years later, and I still like it.
Size: Full
I bought this bed over 2 years ago for my small AF studio. I'm still sleeping on it! Overall it is a good futon. If you have joint/ back problems, you might want to avoid purchasing this because, it is a futon, and the mattress is not premium. Having said that, the mattress IS comfortable and has not sagged one bit in the 2 years I've had it. I keep my futon in bed mode, mostly because it's a bit of a struggle to flip it into couch mode. Originally, I thought this would be an inconvenience, but since my place is so small, it's not a problem. I just do everything on my bed. It did take some time to assemble (2+ hours) and you will need someone to help you. Would I purchase this again, for sure yes. ... show more

  • Gorgeous Frame!
Size: Full
I'm thrilled with this frame and how easy the instructions were to follow. Easy assembly. I'm a 5'1" woman, 105 lbs and was able to put it together in about 3 hours (including a few breaks). The most difficult part for me was attaching the frame to the arms, simply because of the weight of the wood. A man, or two people, will do just fine with it. Some of the reviews said it takes two people to open, and it does not. I can do it easily, alone. The trick is to pop up the front frame slightly first, then get behind it to either lower into bed or pull up into sitting position. It's actually one of the easiest futons I've ever used. Zero complaints about anything. Buy a set of hex nut drill bits so you don't have to use their silly tool, would be my only advice. I'm thrilled with the purchase and highly recommend. ... show more
