This is a thick piece of wood with velcro straps attached. Any kid that is interested in snowboarding will VERY quickly outgrow this board, and I was aware of this when I purchased it. If your child is big enough for a real board, I would definitely suggest looking for a rental from a local shop instead of this. 1, it's INCREDIBLY stiff. It's significantly stiffer than any of my boards, including my stiff charger. 2, it's very thick. It's literally thicker than my normal 164 board. 3, the thing is heavy. It's going to make learning to turn really hard (ignoring the fact that it has no edges. Only reason I got this board was to see if my daughter wants to try it, and her feet are too small for the boots available locally to rent. ... show more

This was 100% an impulse buy while Christmas shopping. I saw it, said to myself "hey the little dude needs this" read the description and choose the correct size to weight, it does not have metal edges like a "real" snowboard and they explain this in the description so it was no shocker. It has a god amount of weight to it and is about 3/4" thick, the Velcro bindings are holding up good so far and are easy to use with gloves on. My little dude and his friends love it and I'm sure it will last a few years more than I thought it would when I bought it. Good product over all. ... show more

OK...I bought two boards...one the beginner and the other the intermediate. My kids are just learning...and they're 8&10. We have only practiced on a gentle hill in our neighborhood. But...whereas both my kids were able to jump on the intermediate board and slide down the hill no problem...the beginner board wouldn't slide. I even put oil on the bottom to see if that would work....no. Then I noticed one of the metal bolts for the boot straps was protruding a bit further out than all the others on the bottom of the board...and thought that was acting like a cleat. So I used a grinder to grind it down about halfway...still no better. Until I figure out why it isn't gliding as well as the bigger board...it's useless. So I'm getting another larger board for my 8 yr old. Nice looking board though...not sure how to rate. ... show more
