  • simple and easy to use bike trainer stand
Assembly was straightforward and it's pretty hefty and durable. We put our Trek hybrid bikes on it, one with standard caliper brakes and the other with disk brakes. We have one stand trainer that integrates with apps, but sometimes it's simpler to just use this one and go at our own pace. It's very easy to switch between the two. There was plenty of clearance from the rear tire to the floor and dialing in the resistance wheel onto the tire was easy. At first, you think there's just not enough resistance, but in the right gear and after about 10 or 15 minutes, you'll start feeling the burn. Overall, it's simple and effective with a solid construction with easy to use features. ... show more

  • Should have gotten one of these long ago
Nice bike training stand. I have had a bike for years that sat in my garage gathering dust. And having been on a bit of a fitness push the last year or so, and having ridden stationary bikes at the gym for a while now, decided I wanted to set up a home option that I could use whenever I want, and regardless of the weather. While weather is always a factor in getting outside to ride, in Texas the brutal summer heat cuts back on the available number of reasonably temperate days. With this I can now ride from the comfort of my house. Assembly on the surface seemed a bit daunting, but in reality turned out to be quite simple. My bike has bolts on both sides of the axle, which works perfectly for this trainer. Those with a quick disconnect hub have to be replaced with one provided with the trainer. That is because of the way it clamps on either side of the hub. But, whichever you may have, they have parts to accommodate it. So, installed and my mountain bike mounted on the trainer (I know, loss of cool points there), I did a test ride. And I have to say I'm pleased overall. I will say it is a little noisy, but in my case a good bit of that noise is because my back tire is one of those studded off-road types; the instructions are pretty clear that a slick / tread-less tire is preferable for smoother operation and less noise (that would be helpful to know from the online listing, but it's not mentioned). But, even discounting the noise from my tire, the resistance unit still has a bit of a whine when riding. Not terrible, but definitely noticeable. Put on a set of headphones and that will pretty much go away. That's really my only gripe. All in all, though, this is a nice option for getting in some bike work at home, but without having to go out in the blazing heat. But when that season does come along, taking it off the stand is not difficult to do. I honestly have no frame of reference about pricing as I've never shopped for one of these before. But I'm fairly certain this is a much more budget friendly option than others out there. And certainly cheaper than the cost of a new bike. ... show more

  • Not enough rear tire floor clearance
Not enough floor clearance for the rear tire. I originally installed it on a trainer mat, and as soon as I started pedaling, I noticed that the rear tire was rubbing on the mat. I took it off of the mat and adjusted the leveling feet to the highest position, but the rear tire still rubbed on the floor. I'll try shimming the folding legs to see if I can get more clearance, but this doesn't look like it's going to give me enough tire clearance from the floor. ... show more

  • Works on a small bike with some modification
The bike trainer does not specify the compatible tire size clearly in the title. I only found out after the reception on the fine print. The bike I tried to mount onto it is a 26" inch wheel one that the roller is still about 1 inch away from the wheel when fully extended. So I have to make an adapter bracket with sheet metal myself to compensate for the gap. After that modification, the roller works pretty well with low noise and smooth rolling when in contact with the wheel. ... show more

  • Converts clothing hangers into exercise bikes
I have several street bicycles that were being used to as clothing hangers. I moved to an area full of hills and very few flat areas. This has completely stopped me from using the bikes since I cannot take a casual cruise any more. This indoor trainer has allowed me to move the bike from the laundry room to the bedroom. I now have my morning routine back. I ride about 30-45 minutes everyday on using this trainer. I ride in the morning while watching the daily news on the tv. This trainer is solid, it has quite some weight to it in order to keep the bike stable. Attaching any bike is very simple with the quick release axle locking mechanism. Once attached the wheel fits snuggly against the roller. The roller adds enough friction to make this a worthwhile exercise. This trainer does make a bit of noise, especially when going fast, but it can be mostly masked by headphones or just raising the volume on your TV. ... show more

  • Quiet
I am impressed with how quiet this trainer is. I also like that I do not have to take off my wheel to attach my bike to the trainer. The price is quite a bit more than what seem like similar trainer, so I've only given 3 stars. So far there is nothing wrong with this trainer: it works fine; it's just notably more expensive that what seem like similar trainers. ... show more

  • Works well
I picked this up for my wife who had been taking a break from running and wanted something that could be done at home. It was super -easy to assemble and we had it up and running in just a few minutes. There's only a few moving parts and I tried to make my life more difficult by attempting to loosen a nut that was absolutely not supposed to be loosened. Installing the bike is straight-forward and there is a decent amount of room for different tire sizes. We're using an old 26'' mountain bike with 2.1'' tires and there was plenty of room. Tire noise with knobby tires is definitely elevated but is comparable to the noise you hear riding on the road. The bike feels secure once it's locked into the trainer although I still don't hammer it too hard for fear of breaking something on the trainer or bike. Unfortunately I can't compare this to any other trainer as this is the only one we've ever owned but it does exactly what it's supposed to do and is solidly built. My only complaint would be the cost. Not that it's not worth the money but $199 is right on the top end of what I'd be willing to pay. If it was in the $149-$179 range it would be perfect. Overall though, good product. ... show more
